Powdercoating valve cover, what color?

I am going to get my valve cover powdercoated and I was wondering what color you guys think would look good? I am looking at black, red, and white. I lean less towards black since that is the theme I am going with under the hood of the GTC. I like red but everyone seems to be doing red. White sounds good, but I wonder if it would look like I expect. If you have any other suggestions post them.

well i'm glad ur going the way of powdercoating. i have my valve cover powdercoated. love it. and i don't have to keep it shiny like a polished finish.

of the colors mentioned, i would definitely not go with white. i don't know anybody who does white, but white is never an accent color, only if its against black, and ur car ain't black.

ya, everyone does red, so scratch that. but i would do with what would look good under your hood, rather than straying from "what everyone else is doing." for me, i've decided to go with a dull metal look. still clean looking, just not shiny. here's a shot of my engine.

so if i were you, i'd just look at other people engine bays (white cars, perhaps) and see what you like. perhaps post some pictures here for everyone to compare.

Black is sexy. That is what I have on my 3000gt and I love it. Then I have my plenum red....black+red= the sex.

Polygon, tell me if you like this:

black would look fine, but it wouldn't show much at all b/c the valve cover is black from the factory, and the rest of the engine/engine bay is black.

so i dunno, white might look good. i just cant remember seeing anyone with a white powdercoated engine parts. black and white can look good, but only if its white ON black, IMO, so the white accents everything. black ON white just makes the white look dirty.

now a grey color would look really nice. maybe a grey metallic or silver. i guess i'm just biased. a deep blue would look very nice, too. those are just my preferences.

here is chrome/blue/black on blue:

here are some other pics on white cars i've collected over the years:

and of course, this is Ray Pampena's engine bay. i love the dull metal finish. not quite a polish, kinda rustic looking. matches turbo compressors and aluminum/steel IC piping quite well.

I voted black too because i like the super clean almost stock look. Then polish the plenum. Polishing them both looks good too, but its typically more expensive than powdercoating. Cant wait until i have the spare cash to do mine...and get hard IC piping...

i should just take out another freaking loan and drop it all on my car. whats life without debt anyways?

if you're short on cash for aesthetic goodies, i recommend two places:

gofastgoodies (.com?, google it)

www.MaximalPerformance.com

both have great prices, very affordable. i got my valve cover done by Terry (maximal performance) and he did a GREAT job, quick turnaround time (a few days), very good price.

I actually like blue the best, thats what I plan on going for and my car is white also. I kinda thought about white under the hood also, but am worried that it would always look dirty so ill probably end up going with blue.

Not that I recommend copy this at all, because that would be a poor move. But since others are posting pics. I absolutely love this (http://www.3si.org/forum/showpost.php?p=2836766&postcount=1): 3si member houdini

I think it looks so badass. If you are serious about being unique why not go for some absolutely different color. If that isn't what you are aiming for...personally I don't know about white...it seems to me it would get dirty entirely too quickly. So if it's between those 3, while white is different, I'd probably go black or red...most likely red, because black is pretty close to stock. Just my .02 :dunno:

Well, here was what I was going for. I want it to be unique and I figured painting the valve cover to match the car would do that since I haven't seen anyone doing that. However, I don't want to go off the wall with some crazy color, though that green was pretty cool. I then wanted to paint the raised letters red. The intake would be powdercoated with a polished look or black. All the intake pipes would be painted black with red couplers.

I shy away from black because it is stock and I am doing that theme in the GTC. I don't want my cars to mirror each other in any way. Like I said, red is just over used. However, blue has sparked my interest.

I for one love the polished parts on blue setup. That's how I want my engine bay to look. The first Stealth engine bay Linebckr posted is just wicked!!!

that engine bay belongs to ShowKiller (Phil Hosner). he's a local TX guy. his car has won so many times at countless competitions for the engine bay, but the rest of his car looks just as good. he's won 1st place a few times at the National Gathering.

scratch out white, think about it, even if you cleaned under the hood every week, the dirt and grime would build up and turn it nasty as hell, red, but that is common, i also own a white stealth, maybe the same color as the interior of the car, if it's black, take yours off, and powdercoat it, but metallic or showy in some way
