At the base of the carb, on the driver side of the car, you will see where the TV cable adjustment is - it's the "D" shaped tab: http://www.silicon212.org/tvcable.jpg Press the "D" shaped tab (where it says "Press Here") hard with your thumb and pull the cable back to the firewall as far as it will go (the plunger will be flush with the adjustment housing at the front), then using a screwdriver, open the throttle as far as it will go. You should hear some clicks - it might even sound like a rattlesnake - but once you open the throttle, you can close it again and the cable is now adjusted. This procedure is used on both the 2004R and 700R4 transmissions. 1987ss 09-26-2006, 10:34 AM thank you!! 1987ss 09-28-2006, 03:02 AM is what we did was opened up throttle and held it open and then pushed button.. is that wrong i know i sound like a dumb ass but im frustrated when you drive it its a rough shift in to second and the kick down dosent work when you kick it down... i hope its us and not the rebuilder silicon212 09-28-2006, 03:09 AM is what we did was opened up throttle and held it open and then pushed button.. is that wrong i know i sound like a dumb ass but im frustrated when you drive it its a rough shift in to second and the kick down dosent work when you kick it down... i hope its us and not the rebuilder Yes, that's wrong. When you press the button down, the reaction of the cable will be to pull toward the carburetor. It needs to be pulled toward the firewall. You press the button, then pull the cable back - WHILE THE THROTTLE IS CLOSED. Now, you open the throttle all the way at the carb to return the cable to its proper resting position within the adjuster. If the cable is maladjusted, it could be death to your transmission - and a quick death at that. 1987ss 09-28-2006, 10:32 AM thanks for your help!!!!! do i remove it from the mounting bracket? do i unhook it from carb or tranny? im confused i guess ive never touched one before !! and again thanks for your help silicon212 09-28-2006, 11:55 AM thanks for your help!!!!! do i remove it from the mounting bracket? do i unhook it from carb or tranny? im confused i guess ive never touched one before !! and again thanks for your help No, do not remove anything. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
