93 sentra - seems to be flooding itself (1.6 Liter)johnnyg2 09-23-2006, 06:05 PM has been a hard starter since I bought it about 3 months ago. Today could not get it started. So I went over ignition system, since I could smell gas in the exhaust. Bought new ignition wires, and new plugs. Thought this would solve it, but no. When I pulled plugs they were wet with fuel. So put new plugs in, tried again, but no. So I pinched of rubber part of fuel line, cranked for a bit and then it started and runs fine again. My question is, is there some kind of fuel cutoff that is not working, or injectors maybe gummed up or is there something else I should be looking at. Help I don't want to have to pinch fuel line every time I want to start it. Car has only about 95,000 miles on it, I suspect it sat a lot. slideways... 09-24-2006, 11:00 AM what fuel line did you pinch? im guessing you pinched the return line in which case id suspect your fuel pressure regulator isnt holding pressure. its really hard to flood a fuel injection engine, theres always another reason. otherwise if your regulator isnt the issue, you could ohm your injectors, i believe they should be high impedence injectors, but im not totally sure. your dealer should know. high impedence should usually test to 12-14 ohms. low is 2-3 ohms. johnnyg2 09-24-2006, 05:23 PM thats what i thought that it would be pretty hard to flood a fuel injected engine. I am thinking maybe to look at coil, weak spark? The hose I pinched is right after fuel filter just before fuel rail. slideways... 09-24-2006, 08:16 PM try checking your injectors, check your spark(you should have an internal coil in your distributor, so test each spark plug wire separately) souds just like weak or no spark to me, so id check the spark first. but thats wierd that you can restrict fuel and start it... the fuel system goes in this order- fuel pump---fuel filter---fuel rail---injectors---pressure regulator---back to tank. so your pinching the sending line. FixUrNissan 09-24-2006, 08:52 PM sounds like injectors , have injectors checked with a leak down test...and also have them Ohm'd .. GL... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
