Derk- How come you have an intercooler and turbo manifold but no turbo?? :screwy:

Cuz i'm not f*cking rich, lol. Buy it one part at a time, one paycheck at a time. I'm getting there. All I need is the turbo itself and I need a bigger downpipe/cat to connect to my catback that i have... I'll prolly just take it in there once I get the size on the turbo and be like make a downpipe and throw this hi-flow cat on there. and I'll have them make a flange so I can connect it to my future turbo...

Speaking of Hotwire, lol. Does anybody know what any of these terms means?
Hot-wire, Flap, or Pressure Sensor........RB26DETT.......Karmen

Every car has one of those three setups for the ECU...does anybody know which one ours has?

Classicrocjunkie
09-19-2006, 11:51 PM
RB26DETT - Infamous Skyline engine or if you want to get technical ( Race Bore 2.6L DOHC EFI Twin Turbo)

Karmen + Ghia = Old skool Vee dub car

First 3 are very very vague. There are soo many different meaning to those terms.

SAFC-II ? You can't do very much with those bro. You'd be better off with a Cartech BEGI FMU and a Wide band O2 sensor. You can't add as much fuel as your going to need with that thing. Those are more or less for FINE tuning.

Derk_eliso
09-20-2006, 12:03 AM
well what do I do with this? lol

Classicrocjunkie
09-20-2006, 12:10 AM
Alright, the SAFC modifies the MAP sensor, to trick the computer into increasing the duty cycle right?

Basically, this means that we can't increase the duty cycle based on the 1 bar MAP signal because it is useless right after you step on the gas (vacuum turns to pressure) and will probably just throw a code (MAP over-voltage?). Think about it..... how can this increase the duty cycle when the MAP's input to the PCM is max'd out at 1BAR?

So, I think the SAFC is only good if you need to decrease the duty cycle. So you will either need big injectors an FMU, or both then tune by decreasing pulse width where needed with the SAFC. I'm talking turbo's mostly here...

So this means that the SAFC cannot effectively increase the fuel supply once the MAP sensor is max'd out (very early in rev range)? Right?? I mean once the MAP has exercised it's control authority over the fuel supply (which occurs very early (with a 1bar MAP), right after the throttle is fully opened)

Sooo basically.... enjoy your light show.

You can get any injectors that you want really. A popular choice is ford brown(35lbs) or green tops (42lbs). Anything is going to have to be re-wired into your old harness's.

Stumpalump you really need to get rid of that ''intake'' and get youself a real one. the person that owned this car before you didnt know what they were doing when they put that thing on there. other than that its a clean looking car and once you get those 17'' Motegi's it will look sick!!

To Derk - Lower, slap bodykit on and paint, paint those calipers and drums red, and either clean or repaint your wheel wells black and you're golden.

To J-Stumpy - Not lookin' too shabby there, what's the Dynamat for? Never heard of it.

yeah, all it does is clean the air....other than that it serves no purpose, so i think i will cet a CAI then the rims cuz winter is coming and i dont want to screw up the new rims and a CAI is in my budget right now so i can take all winter to save for the rims

and the dynamat is to reduce engine noise and vibration

and i was thinking of painting my calipers and drums green but the drums have rust on them, how do you get the rust off to paint them?

Lances133

Wire brush with stiff bristles, spelling*? Then you want use like 100 or 150 grit sandpaper. If you feel like it's nessessary.

what's the Dynamat for? Never heard of it. I cant believe you have never heard of Dynamat. Alot of people use it to line there trunk so that subs dont rattle the shit out of everything. Also people line the floor of the cars under the carpet to cut down on road noise. So basically it deadens sound.

i've spent about a thousand in repairs on this 350 dollar rust bucket i love so much.

-muffler hanger
-since 02/05, 4 front brake pads
-pcv valve, o2 sensor, oil, filter, air filter, egr valve (when i first got it)
-maybe 4 or 5 oil changes since..

now the fun stuff
-two coolant hoses ruptured, $120
-key stuck in ignition cylinder, replaced $50 including tools
-3 of 4 rims bent, pure loss... (the steelies, not my celica rims which were $100)
-1 wheel cylinder replaced, i forgot how much i paid
-coil busted, fryed a spark plug wire $30
-re-sealed a loose windshield $70 with a promise of discounted tints when i go back
catalytic converter $58.75, installed for $80 (welding)

now the actual fun stuff...
bought a 12" blitz audio sub used, it busted, bought a 12" pioneer to replace it
800watt torch audio amp (the subs were both 800)
my rims which i mentioned before
bought some used tires, 1 blew out, another slowly leaked ($120)
bought some new kumho tires ($230 shipped)
sony cdx gt200 deck... $129.99 with fit kit and antenna adapter

i'm tired of thinking but i think the rest is just bullshit like floor mats and bright white interior lights (194s)

well, I told you about my drill breaking, so what I did was I just used the pre-drilled holes that were there from where the bumper was. So that was as far apart as I could get. Put I think they're alright. pisses me off b/c I figured they'd be more blueish...oh well.

Welcome to AF man.
How does that 3400 perform?

As far as just driving around it's perfectly normal. It sounds a bit different, but the engine isnt much heavier, so if i'm just driving to work or something, it doesnt drive any different.

Once you add a significant ammount of throttle (like 100%) you can sure tell the difference though. Cheap tires prohibit traction at the front tires.

Downside, my current ECU setup blows. But, I have something new sitting here... just need to install it. May not be til springtime though.

12-21-2006, 12:19 PM
Derk... Get that thing painted or take it off the road. Your going to damage that gel coat to the point where its just going to make your paint bill higher and higher since there will be more to prepin the car. Which is why i never drove mine after i installed my kit.

12-31-2006, 12:15 AM
I acquired my cavy for free. I'd estimate about 500 bucks for repairs to the head gasket, the wheel bearing, and some axel work. After that was said and done I got new tires for a little more than $300. Then I got a new pioneer head unit from a friend. I put together a non brand name intake for about $50. Added a new exhaust and some piping, maybe a little over 100 dollars for that. I just put in 2 800W subs and an amp last night. Those were about 350 plus 40 for the amp install kit....think I got ripped off, they're not as great as I'd hoped. I'm probably close to 1,000 dollars not including the 500 for repair and regular maintenance of the car. (brakes, oil, that shit.)
Next I'm planning on getting new 6 by 9's and then painting the interior. I'll see if I can get some pics of my stuff on here then.
