The kit looks to have a fairly high parts count...the engine bay doesn't appear to go together in a conventional manner but it's a full engine nonetheless. If the fitment isn't as persnickety as some of Fujumi's recent offerings... this could be one of the best releases of the year.

I hope the Mazdaspeed variant also has LHD dashboard. I'm shocked that Fujimi has included two dashboards in this kit :eek7: :)

Overall looks like it could be an excellent kit, with about 135 parts :sunglasse

Wow!! At least it has an engine!!

It looks like some Tamiya staff may be working at Fujimi now, as their kits are starting to move up a notch in terms of quality and content. Love or hate Fujimi, at least they release far more kits in a year than Tamiya does.

This kit greatly exceded my expectations, I was expecting a flat Maisto style engine plate, but no, there an actual engine block there, albiet a little low on detail compared to AMT and Revell, but still something we rarely see from Fujimi. and its nice to see that Fujimi finally relized that there are model builders from country's and don't drive on the Left side of the car. looks awsome, may get one, but I may wait to see what the MazdaSpeed version looks like

Oh Gawd! Now I have to buy another kit... These new Miatas are gorgeous, in my opinion.

I'm glad it comes with an engine. Looks good for Fujimi and good thing they do release so many more kits than Tamiya and nice kits too.

Wow! Fujimi is getting better by leaps and bounds. That's one amazing looking kit, to be honest. It even has an operating hood prop - something I've been intending to incorporate into my models but have always been too lazy to do. And LHD! This is going in the pile, no doubt!

Let's hope the Cayman and 599 GTB Fiorano are as good.

I like the "spring" suspension; should make it simple to lower the car w/o major surgery while still remaining prototypical.

Dear Fujimi, this one next:

Anybody else noticed that this kit seems to have a working suspension?

:eek2:

Pore over step 1 in the instructions. The struts function more as sliding pillars, and it seems that the rear suspension arms will have to flex their plastic a bit to accommodate this. But you are directed not to glue any strut in place - not just the front ones, which you expect to steer, but the rear ones, too - and those look like real metal coil springs at all four corners.

As if I haven't already contributed enough to Japan's economy.

The new-age Fujimi WRX/STI's were the first to use masks, IIRC. They came before the F430.

"Jada" as it is, and unloaded though the driving wheels may be, at least the fender flares really MEAN it this time. :icon16:

Hey Bob - is it me, or do these Fujimi kits just not show up all that frequently on The Mag's review lists?

The new bB kit also has the springy suspension, and it looks like it's got a tab setting to adjust the ride height.

Toyota bB Styling Package Ver.A Fujimi 1/24 ID-127 (http://www.1999.co.jp/asp/GoodsDetails_e.asp?Bno=&It_c=10049072&Typ1_c=102&Typ2_c=106&Typ3_c=439&Spage=1&SC=0&app_url=top_right102_e.asp)

No 1.5L 1NZ-FE motor, though. :(

Edit:

The new Toyota Estima has besprunged suspension too, but I can't really make out what's going on at the top of page 2, step 5:

Toyota Estima G/X Fujimi 1/24 ID-8 (http://www.1999.co.jp/asp/GoodsDetails_e.asp?Bno=&Typ1_c=102&Typ2_c=106&Typ3_c=439&SPage=1&SC=272&SN=Search+result+Search+for+%3A+1%2F24+%28Fujimi%2 9&It_c=10051369&andor=0&scope=0&scope2=0&thumb=1&sortID=1&urikire=1&sort_sort=0&ItKey=1/24 (Fujimi)&app_url=KeyReference_right_e.asp)

I'm sorry but I don't get all the hype. It's just a Miata. Isnt this the car that women buy and call a sports car?

Dunno...looks like if I printed this beast I'd have to print it on rice paper :evillol:

I guess Fujimi is stingy with review samples; if the mag's get 'em, they'd get reviewed. I just built Hasegawa's Fairlady Z432R for review, and have a Tamiya SLR on the way for another.

That's interesting. Wonder why Fujimi would hold 'em back.

Yeah, Trumpeter was a bit slow with their Monte Carlo, so I started on my personal kit to get the review underway, and The Mag replaced it when they finally got their sample.

You like your Fairlady as much as I liked mine?

Loved building it. Hasegawa's got it going, that's for sure. Wish they'd do more.

Well said.

I remember beating the crap out the "men's" sports cars (ie 'vette's) at auto-x/road race events with a '91 R-package Miata. As emasculating as they look, they are a force to be reckoned with on the track!

Amen. I remember in the late '70's I was autocrossing in the small FWD category (in the world's most gawdawful Subaru 1400 DL), and everyone got their asses handed to them on a platter by a damned Mini Moke :icon16: He had fastest time of the day. Looks aren't everything  I went to an autocross one time where a guy actually ran his Morgan three-wheeler :screwy:  That was fun to watch, especially when it was on 2 wheels

Yes, they definitely can handle..one of the VPs in my company has a '90 or so Miata set up for autocrossing..he races it as often as he can around the SF bay area...fun little car.

It's a sports car in the traditional British sense...good balance, small, light, great handling... think MG or Triumph, but with Japanese quality and reliability.
