I have a 2000 328i and recently, the orange oil light began to come on a few seconds after starting and remains on for about 5 seconds before going off. The oil level is right up. Any ideas what might be going on here?

Thanks,

Tom

It's the oil level sensor switch located at the bottom of the engine oil pan. Drain the oil before removing switch and don't forget to replace the O-ring.

Good Luck,

Peter,

Thanks, it's reassuring to know it's nothing too serious.

if there is no O-ring there probably is a crush washer... but either way it comes with the new part at auto zone for about $8 bucks... good luck aigh
