Hey guys Im new to the fourm. Im a relativley new bmw owner. Do the oil changes get done every 3k miles? And the service engine milage on the dash board, is that for engine service or oil change. Be great if someone can help me out, thanks. Also my steering wheal seems to make a funny soudn when you turn slowley, you guys know anything about that.

If you follow the Oil service indicator on the dash board, oil change is approx. every 15k miles (using synthetic oil). I do mine every 7.5k miles. The other indicator is for Inspection (engine service) also every 15k. These indicators alternate each other, Oil service then Inspection the Oil service etc...

That's pretty much what I do too. I do a normal 10 minute oil change when about 3 of the green service indicator bars are used up (around 4.5K to 5K miles) and then follow it up with an oil service or an inspection whichever is due.
