1994 Grand Am Electrical Issue - please help!

Last week I was driving and my car died while I was driving it. Dead. Turned the key and I got the usual clicking from whatever, meaning that it wouldn't turn over - not enough juice. I charged the battery, it started and ran fine, but when I removed the battery cable it died instantly.

In other words, the car will NOT run with the battery disconnected, which I believe it should be able to do. I was told it was the alternator that needs to be replaced, any thoughts?

THANKS!

It does sound like your alternator has given up on you. Be careful disconnecting the battery when the car is running, its very possible to fry the computer, alternator, air bag modules and other expensive parts.
