Hey everyone, Ive been asked by the one of the cool mods to post this over here. Its a brake problem with my '97 Monte Carlo, butIm finding many others around the internet with the SAME issue on their Luminas. So far it seems that EVERYONE is completely stumped. Any input from any GM techs is warmly welcomed. Much thanks in advance.

We'll get to the bottom of this Jeff....and in turn it should make for some great info for the next guy guy/gal who comes along.

he's got ABS activation whenever the brakes are active, it sounds familiar...know it's been posted here before, but what was it?

I don't think sensors are gonna be the answer, because when it notes a fault in a wheel speed sensor, it should DISABLE the ABS, not make it active...what about circuit that cycles the ABS when the ignition comes on? Could it be at fault somehow?

Has anyone scanned this with an abs function scanner and looked at what is happening when this occurs or any abs codes, a regular scanner will not do this.

I was looking at NTSB reports and found BUTTLOADS of complaints about this condition on Monte Carlos since '95 or so...unwarranted ABS operation and low pedal with increased stopping distances, sometimes resulting in collisions with other vehicles, garage walls, etc...too much to be a coincidence...there has to be a common cause, I bet...

I was wondering earlier, is your ABS warning light on all the time, and does the blue "TRAC" light illuminate when the ABS kicks on?
