Repair Costs? Should I buy?johnalex13 09-12-2006, 02:28 PM I am a recent college graduate with a new job and an old honda accord. I have had crappy cars my whole life (subaru wagon, buick lesabre, toyota pickup, and honda accord). I have been snipping out 2000 Audi A4s, and I have realized that they aren't that expensive to buy, in relation to other cars. Why is that? One of my brothers is telling me that it would be a bad buy because of repair costs. However with the new flood of VW's in the market I could see the repair costs for an Audi being a lot more reasonable. Are audi repair costs really enought to make me not get this car? thanks john MikeLee2484 09-13-2006, 12:05 AM its the cost of parts. for one. anything produced in europe, especially germany, is going to cost more than in the states for a variety of reason, mainly labor laws which increase operating costs for germany companies. and two, they have to be shipped for overseas. labor rates are on par with any other car because most shops can deal with all makes and model. not all cars cost the same to operate, and you just have to know that any car not produced in your country will probably cost more to maintain. thats just the way it is with any german car. oh, and dont get it repaired at a dealer unless it has a warranty or you get an extended warranty, they will rape you on labor rates. johnalex13 09-13-2006, 12:13 AM its the cost of parts. for one. anything produced in europe, especially germany, is going to cost more than in the states for a variety of reason, mainly labor laws which increase operating costs for germany companies. and two, they have to be shipped for overseas. labor rates are on par with any other car because most shops can deal with all makes and model. not all cars cost the same to operate, and you just have to know that any car not produced in your country will probably cost more to maintain. thats just the way it is with any german car. oh, and dont get it repaired at a dealer unless it has a warranty or you get an extended warranty, they will rape you on labor rates. What about ebaying parts when I need them?....is this maybe a solution? thanks vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
