View Full Version : do you guys hear your fans when you rev? do you guys hear your fans when you rev? TatII 08-29-2002, 05:03 AM TatII 08-29-2002, 04:56 PM come on~ this is important i want to know if my engine is bad or not. or is there somethign wrong with it cause i don't think a 240sx is suppose to be that slow. Fliquer 08-30-2002, 02:22 PM After I've driven my car for about 15 minutes, the fan comes on and it is very loud. Im considering getting an electric Trimline fan to get rid of that noise (and a lot more cooling power). TheLogikal1 08-30-2002, 04:12 PM my cars stock as hell but the fan on mine is still pretty loud. i think thats just how it goes. but remember what you told me: Originally posted by TatII don't be surprised when you start gettin beat by decent powered honda's. our cars as slow as hell stock. TatII 08-30-2002, 04:57 PM now that you guys replied with teh fan. but does your your rev's whind down really slow? or does it just drop back to 1K instantly? Fliquer 08-30-2002, 05:18 PM The revs drop a little slower than usual when the fan is on(because the crankshaft is powering the fan). I think the revs drop slowly in general too. Gotta get me a lighter flywheel. natedogs911 09-12-2002, 04:19 AM electric fan is a must, haven't gotten mine yet cause i got debts right now. the stock fan is connected to the engine via a fan clutch, it takes anywhere from 5 to 15 hp to run that thing. mine is very loud too, and like u said after 15 minutes it comes on the reason being when your engine heats up to a certain temperature (187 degrees i beleive on the stock fan clutch, mine is 175 degrees cause i had to replace it and got a lower temperature one) the fan clutch heats up and engages, i can tell when it does i lose power and u can hear it. witht eh stock fan like that it also wears on your water pump too. as far as the rev issue, i think that's just teh way they are. TatII 09-12-2002, 09:38 AM you got any links besides 240.org for step by step or just parts needed to install a electric fan? natedogs911 09-13-2002, 04:15 AM most parts stores have electric fans, my local kragen has this slimline fan for $200 that's pretty good, u want a dual fan, it will come with a thermostat and pretty much all u need, it's really easy Fliquer 09-13-2002, 11:43 AM Do an internet search for "trimline fans" Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
