Best method to get rid of double-sided tape?VinnyPolston 09-10-2006, 03:11 PM First off, Hello ( just registered ) :) Ok, I have a 98' cavalier Z24. I decided to take off the side moldings. easy enough. But I have tried and tried to get rid of the double-sided tape left on my car off. I tried hot-soapy water, a steamer, , , nothing seems to work please help, what can I do to get rid of it? Lances133 09-10-2006, 03:15 PM Try Goo-Gone VinnyPolston 09-10-2006, 03:38 PM thx. but I just tried that ( after reading your post ) put on some goo-gone and let it set for 5 minutes then went out to peel the stuff off and no luck. some pictures are here http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2453708 sry, please keep trying to help, I will let you know if I find something that works. :banghead: Cavalier2000 09-10-2006, 03:40 PM i use goo gone, let it sit over night then stick some more on there int he morning and then pressure wash it off Lances133 09-10-2006, 03:54 PM Worst comes to worst you could always put them back on and wait until you do the bodywork and get it painted to take them off. my99cavy 09-12-2006, 09:03 PM I used gas......yes gas to get the glue off of where my badges were. Just put a little on a rag and stared rubbing. the stuff came off perfectly and with no damage to the paint. Now I guess its a risky thing and you can try it if you want. Cavalier2000 09-13-2006, 09:52 AM lol yea but if you get the left over gas off fast enough you will be on Lances133 09-13-2006, 10:11 AM ..on.....fire? lol Cavalier2000 09-13-2006, 10:33 AM fire were lol my99cavy 09-13-2006, 11:02 AM lol yea but if you get the left over gas off fast enough you will be onyup as long as you dont let the gas sit on there then your ok. After I was done wiping it with the gas I took soapy water and scrubed it right away then hosed it off. VinnyPolston 09-14-2006, 07:05 PM huh, gas? Well, I will give it a try. DeadBlade89 09-14-2006, 10:17 PM wut i found works best is to rub it off when its dry with ur fingers. the only bad thing about that, is that i got blisters on my thumbs when i was done. then when its off , just wash down the area and wax it or wut not. it looks good when its all done. VinnyPolston 09-16-2006, 07:38 PM Finally found something that worked. I went to autozone for a couple of things and while I was there I asked a sales person there what they thought would be best, they pointed me to OOPS! http://www.homaxproducts.com/products/cleanersremovers/01/images/710755_prodimg1.jpg Works like a charm. I will post pics once I am finished removing it all. MrR0b0t0 09-17-2006, 12:04 AM Hmm i took off the dealer badges and some stikers with a hair dryerand my hands. I dunno if it was double sided tape or glue on the badges, but it only left a bit of residue which came off witha good waxing. But glad you found something, might try that if I ever have to. my99cavy 09-18-2006, 11:06 AM http://www.homaxproducts.com/products/cleanersremovers/01/images/710755_prodimg1.jpg Hmmmm I'm going to have to keep that in mind. Cavalier2000 09-18-2006, 12:35 PM MEK works great too, stinks just as bad lol my99cavy 09-18-2006, 01:22 PM Well if it sticks just as bad then why would you want to use it?? :slap: Cavalier2000 09-18-2006, 01:42 PM damn it stinks as in smell lol my99cavy 09-18-2006, 02:04 PM Ohhh shit I have to read better before I post. :slap: myself. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
