2000 passat rear calipers?msc66 09-09-2006, 03:14 PM I'm putting new rear pads on my wife's 2000 Passat and I can't get the pistons in the calipers to push back in. On any other vehicle I've done I just put some pressure on the piston and crack the bleeder a little and it squeezes right in. Is there a trick to this car or are my calipers frozen and need replaced? Thanks in advance. Mike guumbah 09-11-2006, 10:00 AM Probably needs to be rotated in. Is it a cup, or is it flat with some slots on the top? If it's the latter, it needs to be rotated in. There's a special tool you can use, but I've always been able to do it with a large c-clamp. The standard caliper spreaders I have would never turn it, but for some reason the c-clamp I have, pushing against the back of the caliper, will rotate it at the right pace while applying pressure to back it in no problem. msc66 09-13-2006, 07:27 PM Thanks, Used a c-clamp and channel locks. Worked fine! Mike vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
