Need help for project tomorrow!! (removing rear window carpet)mike_flemming 09-08-2006, 07:21 PM Yes, well tomorrow i was going to put my new pioneer 6x9 speakers the the back of the car. I would like to have the speaker grille above the rear carpet. Im assuming that i can cut holes for this. But I have no idea how to remove this peice. Im assuming i have to remove the child seat anchor and the 2 side plastic peices...anything else? (thanks in advance) mike_flemming 09-08-2006, 09:54 PM anyone? Blue Bowtie 09-08-2006, 11:29 PM What year Lumi? On the later body style ('95+) the rear seat cushion is removed, the seat back needs to come out (one nut in each lower corner), and then the entire rear package shelf slides out in one piece. mike_flemming 09-09-2006, 09:15 AM its a 95 richtazz 09-09-2006, 10:56 AM Your 95's rear speakers bolt in from up top, so the rear seatback will have to be removed to get the top shelf carpet out. It appears the lower cushion is held in by a single bolt in the center above the floor hump. The seat back has 2-bolts on the bottom near the outside (one on each side). Once you get the shelf carpet out, you can cut your speaker holes if you wish. My advice would be to leave it alone so your visible speaker grills aren't a clue to theives that you have a nice system worth taking. uH8THECHEVY 09-09-2006, 09:47 PM Your 95's rear speakers bolt in from up top, so the rear seatback will have to be removed to get the top shelf carpet out. I have 4 6X9s in my 1991 Lumina but you can't tell from looking thru the back window. gw84 09-11-2006, 06:21 PM how do you remove that piece in a first gen. lumi? Mine looks rough, I'd like to replace it uH8THECHEVY 09-11-2006, 11:23 PM how do you remove that piece in a first gen. lumi? Mine looks rough, I'd like to replace it Remove the two bolts for the bottom of the seat(13mm Socket) and the the two for the back part of the seat (I think a 11mm Socket). Once you have those two parts off you need need to remove the retaining pins that are holdinn the covers for the seatbelt. Also there are two pins I think in the middle of the carpert also. Once you have all of that removed all you have to do is slide the carpet off. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
