The toon was drawn without any references, just from what I kept in my mind. Critics and comments are welcome! sketches_of_b 09-08-2006, 08:43 AM Nice looking Bimmer! I like the angle. Obviously, I'm more into the realistic stuff, but the toon is nice too. B SieG 09-08-2006, 08:55 AM Nice looking Bimmer! I like the angle. Nice Bimmer!!! just one thing.. you have to keep in mind that everything goes into one point in perspective, look at your door handles and the rear wheel, but anyway its good work keep it up! :) Jin Blip 09-08-2006, 09:09 AM Now the Bimmer is well drawn, but being a toon guy, the Subie makes me smile. Hope you draw a few more toons. 1986 09-08-2006, 01:07 PM Yeah, nice Beamer. I'm not a big fan of toons, sorry ... JvK knightvision 09-09-2006, 10:37 AM Thank you for your replies. For the BMW: It's my first car portrait since a few months. I only had 2 evenings to finish it. I see that the rear wheel should be a bit more narrow, and yeah, the doorhandles are quite hard on a letter size paper. I asked myself why it looks so strange in the reference pic, but in this angle, the shoulder line increases quickly along the side panel. Well however it's freehand. The toon: Thanks for your kind words Blip, they mean a lot to me since I really like your toons. I love car toons in general. I will take a closer look at the "CARS" from the movie. The Pixar guys did a great job on them. I will post more in the future. Blip 09-09-2006, 10:49 AM Knight, if you are interested in the Pixar cars, then maybe have a look at this site. http://www.bigdealart.com/ It's for Dave "Big" Deal, recently read an article that he was the CAR-toonist who did the original design sketches for that "Cars" in that move. His site does not talk about that, but the gallery is full of his artwork. Great examples to study. He has been a big influence on my style of CAR-tooning. knightvision 09-09-2006, 11:11 AM Thanks for the link Blip. Some cars have some similarities to those in the movie. I really enjoy seeing what you can do with the shape of a car. All these exxagerations twists and still the car is recognizable. Do you have a website aswell? G-man422 09-09-2006, 11:31 AM That bimmer looks very nice. I like the view you decided to draw it at. Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
