New to the forum, I thank anyone in advance for assistance...

I have a 96 Bonneville SSEi. I am trying in vain to install a power antenna BUT...the harness has three wires and the aftermarket antenna only has two. I can't seem to get the proper combination of two of the wires from the harness, even though I have followed the directions (hot vs. switched), have blown six 15A fuses and there are no more spares in my car (or my wife's!) and it's getting a 'bit' frustrating. None of the colors in the harness correspond to anything written down anywhere on the entire WWW. Please help!

I'll try and help you out. I've got a 97 and things should be similar. There are three wires:
Black: Ground
Dark Green: Hot when radio is on
(possibly orange): Hot all the time

If the colors are totally different, look for signs that the wiring has been altered by a previous owner. Make sure that the new antenna doesn't require more than 15 Amps to function. Those mini fuses are very sensitive to current spikes and will blow very quickly. It's also possible that the new antenna is defective.

Give me some more information and I'll try and help as much as possible.:icon16:
Don't worry, those fuses are pretty cheap.:p

Coming from the chassis there are:

Black: which went to Gray on the original antenna

Green: which went to Green

Orange: which went to White

I took the advice of the aftermarket directions and left the connector and cut the wires off the antenna at the base but I'm also assuming that there is a direct correspondence of polarity within the connector. And we know what assumptions make...

Thanks again for your reply...
