Radiator fan kept running with engine off and keyout. Ran battery down and stranded wife. Check engine light on with rad fan relay code.

Replaced fan relay. Cleared code. Seemed ok. Last night after date after about 20 mins fan came on by itself. Eventually went off. Ran long enough to drain battery.

Never noticed a fan coming on when ignition off and key out. I know some vehicals do this, but I never noticed GC doing it.

Perplexed... seems to be a problem if battery will run down in this situation.

Anyone had this before??

did you replace the relay in the PDC or the one located on the rad support bracket? common for the one by the rad to fail.

It is the one not in the PDC. Mine happens to be under LF headlight. In researching these forums that particular relay's location seems to vary with model/year.

Anyway - strange. I put the old one back in for now and it seems to be working ok even though it is cracked. I'll wait and see if the fan decides to come on in about 20 to 30 minutes for no good reason.

The relay trouble code has stayed cleared.
