Hey guys with a full tank of gas and about 90% highway travel I am getting about 315 miles on a full tank. Now this is really a suprise to me I have 147,000 on this car and still have the original spark plugs and wires on this thing. I don't do 55 if you know what I mean.

2001 Grand Am GT.

Mixed driving, no cruise.
I go about 300 miles before filling. I never let it get below 1/4 tank.

Not nearly as far i should or would like for the price we pay for gas.

Mix City/hwy about 240 @ 23-25 mpg
Hwy about 300+ @ 27-32 mpg
City about 175 @ 18-20 mpg
this is all at a little below the quarter mark roughly taking 10 gallons.

Gravis2000, you are getting pretty good mileage for the miles on your g/a. I'm closing in on 90,000 and i'm still getting pretty good mileage, so i guess i have something to look forward to!

In my SE(highly modified) in the city I get around 250miles on 10 gals, and still hav 1/4 tank when I fillup.
My GT on the other had, stock, only gets about 240 on 10 gals.

But out on the interstate I get over 30mpg(w/cruise of coarse).
THe best I've ever got was recently in the SE when I drove it to Cedar Point, I got 380miles on one tank(12gals).
Which was scarry because it has that :screwy: gas gauge/float

But my wifes Pruis.... it gets around 65mpg :banghead:(damn hybrids )

It is not how far on a tank but what the MPG figures out.
But if you have 147K on the plugs an new set of plugs would be in order.
And should help on gas mileage.

also my mpg are w/87octane.
If I use the high grades, I get alot more out of a tank.
Both mpg and performance wise.

I get around 360 to a tank with 260k miles with a mix of city and highway, and I have some mods as well. Straight highway driving with cruise at 70ish I get around 37 mpg, didn't figure out range to a tank on that trip.

I put the lowest grade in my GAGT.
Seems to get better mileage that way.

Well, I put in 13 gallons of gas and run 87 octane. Its about 25 miles per gallon but it's about a 50/50 trip when I think about it. 50% highway 50% City. I would think new plugs and wires but the car runs great and my mpg is still the same as when the car had 25,000 miles on it. I don't want to jinx it but the car has run and held up better from 90,000 to 147,000 miles then it did from 0 to 90,000 miles. Not one bit of oil burns I put 10,000 miles on it between oil changes with synthetic oil. I had a window motor go out but that just wore out that can happen to anyone.
