Masking question

I'm making a couple of two-tone and one four-tone model, and wanted to know (before I ruined them) if it is OK to seal tape with clear coat to prevent bleed-under. I can easily imagine trying to remove the tape and having the clear coat peel the paint off too, since it's under the paint. If that happened, I would feel like this :banghead: , as would any of you guys, I know. So, will this happen? If it will, I'll just mask very well and spray lightly at first with the airbrush (and away from the edge of the tape). The first subject, a 1965 Chevrolet C-10 pickup, will be my first two-tone (white and red), so I have no clue what to do. I already painted the white, and will soon mask and spray the red, then clear coat all, polish, and wax, but I don't want to peel up my red when I remove masking!! So give me advice, you expert painters. :tongue: Thanks.

Sealing the edge of masking tape with a clear coat is a normal practice, nearly every thread on the subject here mentions it.
