too many attemps.. stereo CODEdseveso 08-25-2002, 08:05 PM Hi there, I changed my battery recently and my wife inadvertidely touch many buttons on the stereo. I have the manufacturer's code, but my radio went to "OFF" that it means that I fail to enter the code more than three times. Do you know how to get the sterio prompted for "CODE" instead? It's a 96 Mits/Montero Thanks! MajBoothroyd 10-18-2002, 10:37 PM Yeah, stupid mitsubishi. Same thing here, with a recently accquired 2001 model. The reset is simple, the code part blows. To reset it and try again; put the key in the ignition, and turn it to accessory. Leave it like that for about an hour I think, maybe as little as fifteen minutes. When you come back and turn on the radio you should see "CODE" again. To actually get rid of the code junk is more complicated. You either present the part number on the back of the radio to the nearest Mitsubishi dealership and they'll hand you (in some form) your unlock code (which can't be changed so memorise it and store it somewhere safe). Or, try and track down that little card (about credit card size) that came with the vehicle which says what your code actually is. Good luck, you'll need it. bnobrega 09-26-2003, 09:06 PM I installed an Infiniti stereo from a 98 Eclipse in to my 93 Eclipse. I have the unlock code that I got from the Mitsubishi dealer by telling him the serial number of the stereo. I entered the code and pushed the TAPE button. The stereo unlocked and seems to work fine. Now, the problem is that when I turn off the ignition and leave the car for about an hour, the stereo is locked again when I start the car. It does not lock out if I turn off the car and then restart a short time later. What did I do wrong? Did I miss a step in entering the code? Did I mess up on the wiring? Oh yeah, after I unlock the stereo, all of my presets and the time are still OK, they do not get cleared so I think the power is correctly connected. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
