2003 Covertible Atomatic Beetleebutuyan 08-28-2006, 01:40 PM Hi I posted this a couple of days ago. I would really apprecaite any advise. We need to make the decision this week. many, many thanks:screwy: Should we buy a 2003 Covertible GLS Bettle http://a.tribalfusion.com/i.ad?site=AutomotiveForumscom&adSpace=CustomCampaign&size=300x250&requestID=1416317259 (http://a.tribalfusion.com/i.click?site=AutomotiveForumscom&adSpace=CustomCampaign&size=300x250&requestID=1416317259)Hi. My wife and I are looking at a mint condition GLS 2003 Covertible, equipped with all the available options. It only has 24,000 miles and looks like it has been well taken cared of by the couple-owner. Theyre asking for $16tho. My worry is that it has not been inspected and that I've heard countless problems about the Bettle, electrical etc. Any advice on whether I should proceed with the sale (price, feedbacks, red flags) and whether I should take some steps before completing the sale would be greatly appreciated. Btw, I dont know how to work with cars! Many thanks hako 09-01-2006, 08:39 PM We've had no problems at all but others seem to have heaps. They are a mechanical beast so you do need to look after them. I'd ask to see the maintenance records for the car first to see if it has had lots of problems happening. If not then it is probably a reliable one (going on the past life of the car). You can buy a car with your head or your heart. Sometimes the head is the wisest BUT always the heart will give you the warmest feelings. Good Luck. veedubmechanic 09-04-2006, 06:52 PM I would stay clear of a 2003 convertable beetle unless you like to drive with the top up year round. There were and still are LOTS of problems with 2003-2005 nb convertables with the stupid flaps in the rear. VW had SO MANY issues with them they removed them for the 2005+ models. riverat440 01-05-2007, 10:45 AM Atomatic, Hmmm that must be that new model that runs on nuclear fuel vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
