owner of a 1982 924, basic model 2.0i with (lux interior, black interior) turbo wheels, 5 speed manual, electric windows and mirrors, pop out sunroof. running and drives well, excellent condition, bodywork, black with a blue pearl paint. all for......£350:eek: ($525 for you over the otherside)
has been regulary serviced, justs need a new injector and pully wheel, backbox and bonnet gas struts. once the escort is sold, the 924 will be on the road!
anybody know what the offset is for the wheels, i have a set of 7.5"x16" alloys with an ET34 offset with 4x108mm, which i have been told which is the same as the 924.
pictures up when i get clearer pictures:)

Very cool! Go to www.924board.org if you have any questions about it!

I think those wheels might rub a bit, the biggest wheels you can fit on the fronts are 8", and that's with an optimum 53mm of offset. The factory offset was 52.3mm I believe.

The only other thing that comes to mind right now is to make sure the battery box is sound, and has been repaired. The area under the battery wasn't very well drained, or sealed for that matter. By this point, it's usually quite rusty, and needs to be repaired, or water comes into the cabin above the passenger footwell!

going over the car it is generally solid. only 3 previous owners before me and someone made the effort to replace the tan interior with a black interior but never done the headlining! i admit i haven't tried the alloys on yet as they are still on the escort. but if the original offset is 52.5 then i really doubt my wheels will fit right. oh well, 944 hubs it is and a modern set of porsche 17's.
all my mates, especially the girls who've come round to see it have all previously said my escort is better,...until they see the 924! now they want me to get it on the road pronto!!:D but the escorts got to go first! ok its no 911 or turbo'd 944, or call it an audi in porsche clothing, it's still a porsche:)

What are the wheels on the escort? I have seen people run 7-8" wheels with a 23mm offset, but they rub under hard cornering. 911 16x6 wheels have the early offset, but are not wide enough to rub. They're what I'm using when I convert to 944 brakes/hubs.

Be sure to check under the battery, that is the only spot where all 924s have rust. I am buying one from my brother, just as soon as I have the rest of the money :( and the battery box area is rusted right through, I'll have to weld it.

You guys are really luck in Europe, you get the nice bumpers and 125hp...

the wheels are staying on the escort for now. check out the ford section, in escort, my thread, 'latest pics of my escort.......'

for now i'm leaving the 924 alone. sitting there looking at me every morning when i go to work wishing it would be driving me to work!!! give it a coupla months then i'll start using it. only thing i do need is a black headlining and sunroof lining in black. it originally had a tan interior but the previous owner replaced it with one from a turbo model (black) but broke both headlininings. have to replace bonnet struts, alternater bushes and belt, exhuast system and sort out the high ride height!! i like my cars low:cool: get me a turbo grill, this 944 bodykit i've heard about, aparently makes it look like a 944. i've seen some cool pics on some of the US websites, some with sutble mods to outrageous mods! theres a light metallic blue 924 driving around and theres a white 924 lux for sale near where my mum works and theres another white 924 with blown head gasket for sale on a farm nearby with full porsche service history. loads around here in a 10 mile radius!!

I don't care much for the 944 styling, it's too bulky and angular compared to the 924... I like the 968, it's quite a bit smoother looking. Actually, there is a company in the UK making 968 swaps for 924s! It's very nice looking.

The inevitable hurdle of the 924 is a lack of power, but hey, we can't have everything in one car :)

Actually, I know a guy in Sweden who put an Audi 5 cylinder in his car, and some of those 5 cylinders make incredible power.
