Hello all,

I have been having some problems with my 99 Beetle. The check engine light is on and you have to start the car for about 10 mins. to get it to go about about 5 miles per hour. When it is running, sometimes it will loose acceleration and the check engine light will start blinking. I heard that it could be the MAF sensor and we are thinking of replacing it. Could this be true? Took it to auto shop to get a check engine test but they didn't know what was wrong. It did say that it was too rich. Any ideas?

sounds like a mass air flow sensor
note that is cover under emission warranty, every state has different time lenght/mileages
also need to know the fault codes to be certain or really easy disconnect the mass air flow sensor and start her up
if she runs fine, thats ur problem
