I have a 1989 240sx with blown engine ka24e sohc. I have a chance to pick up a 2.4L sohc from a 1990 axxes but I noticed distibutor is in the rear. Can I make this work?

dont quote me on this, but im pretty sure it wont work, because the SR FWD isnt even closely compatible with the RWD SR. But, i would check and see for sure. If it does work, then i would guess you could also use a stanza KA24E. Why dont you just swap over to a DOHC?

first of all the engine must be rwd. i don't know if the axxes is rwd and i don't care to look it up. if you say the distributor is at the 'rear' then its most likely fwd. the distributor on all ka's is on the front of the engine on the driver's side. the only KA that you might be able to use is one from the old nissan pickup but even then i wouldn't do it.. i'd highly suggest finding a complete KA24DE motorset if you just want the n/a 2.4L back in your car. the KA24E was only in production in 240s for 2 years then it was dropped. so you'll find more readily available parts for the DE than you will for the E if you need any. even at this point, it would be worth buying a CA18DET since its not that much more expensive than a full KA24DE set. but its up to you.. ask more questions if you aren't sure.
