6 quartsTrey24 08-20-2006, 11:04 PM Wow... did my first oil change on my 99 chevy ext. Put in 5 quarts and still needed another. Had no idea that it took 6. Are you guys changing every 3k or 5k or when you "change oil" light comes on. jeverett 08-21-2006, 03:00 PM I changed every 3-4K no matter what. I dont trust that oil light. It didnt come on for 9500 miles one time. chuck16 08-21-2006, 03:04 PM :iagree: :iagree: :iagree: In the words of my Father "you can pay me now or you can pay me later..." Oil is cheap, engines aren't. I change mine every 3-4000 Kilometers as well. Ape0r 08-21-2006, 08:24 PM 6-7k miles here. guumbah 08-22-2006, 01:26 AM Supposedly the oil life system (not sure if you have that on a 99) is accurate, regardless of how long it says. I've even heard some valid arguments about frequent oil changes affecting our national oil consumption.... Blah blah blah. I do mine every 3-5k mi. :grinyes: Every citizen could change their own oil two extra times a year and not equal the waste of large industry, not to mention freak oil tanker spills. Fix it with big business first. Then I'll give a rat's a$$. :2cents: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
