View Full Version : '83 dropped it's driveshaft '83 dropped it's driveshaft ddax 08-19-2006, 02:53 PM My son called me late last night and asked if I'd come to get him. He said the Caprice " just won't go". When I got there I saw it had dropped the driveshaft. Luckily, he was just pulling away from a stoplight and wasn't going down the freeway! (And, I just had both u-joins replaced in April - think maybe the shop might want to repair this one on their dime, not mine?) Three of us pushed the car off the curb lane and into an adjacent parking lot and I had AAA tow it to the shop this AM. I groaned a bit pushing the car as there was a slight rise up into the lot. My son told me two police officers had stopped before I got there. While my son steered, the two cops and my son's friend pushed the car out of the intersection to the curb strip. Trying to get the car in motion, one of the cops called up to my son and said; "Take off the break!", to which he replied; "It is off!" I just pictured all that in my head and found it really funny. Everyone forgets how very heavy these car are!!! It ain't no Honda!
