How about a Honda S2300?Racer 20 08-23-2001, 06:08 PM What do you think guys? Since the S2000 has a problem with low end torque why not increase it's displacment? what do you think of this idea? I would prefer an S2500 but I doubt Honda will increase it half a liter. lol But .3 liters sounds kinds sweet to me. And they can still increase the power. :p F20C 08-23-2001, 06:38 PM S2000 is going to get a bigger displacement no doubt. Rumors are the 2.2L Mugen developed engine or a 2.5L bored out from F20C. Chances are they will come with i-VTEC. Have you seen the dyno plot on RSX-S? The torque line is flat like a pancake past 3000rpm right up to redline. Racer 20 08-24-2001, 06:44 PM Ya Honda makes great engines. :) I think the idea of the NSX came up by Honda wanting to do a bigger displacment S-XXXX car. Maybe an "S3000" when they started it. Who knows. BTW, do you think the newer S car will still be front-mid-engined? I'm sure they can still push it back a little even if it's 2.2-2.5 liters...atleast I hope so. :D F20C 08-24-2001, 07:39 PM By your proposal S3000 would have to be inline 6. 3.0L is too big to be placed under inline 4. That would screw up the 50/50 weight balanced. Unless they counterbalanced that by making the car much longer in wheelbase. http://9000rpm.20m.com/Dcp_0654.jpg As you can see from my car's engine bay. The engine is already placed to the very end. Unless S2000 get's longer wheelbase. There is no room left for the engine to be placed any further towards the middle. Jay! 08-24-2001, 09:37 PM :eek2: Nice silver S2000! Welcome to AF, by the way. :D Can they do 2.5L out of the same size block? F20C 08-24-2001, 09:43 PM Thanks you have a silverstone metallic as well I assume? Anyways Honda could bore it out and there is reports of them doing so as well. Jay! 08-24-2001, 09:48 PM Originally posted by F20C Thanks you have a silverstone metallic as well I assume? Not yet. ;) (see link in sig) F20C 08-24-2001, 09:52 PM I see ;) well if you are planning to buy one. Now is not the best of time. Jay! 08-24-2001, 09:55 PM The wait-and-see-what-comes-out-next-year game the manufacturers play now is a joke. Are you alluding to anything in particular? I'm inclined to buy a used car because I'll already know what comes out next. :hehe: F20C 08-24-2001, 09:58 PM I wasn't talking about the markup and the false statement from Dealers claiming that MY2001 was the last model year. MY2002 have some decent features but not nothing compare to what you can get later. F20C 08-24-2001, 09:59 PM The next engine in S2000 will be i-VTEC. There is no doubt about that. You probaly seen RSX-S dyno chart. The torque figure are flat like a pancake past 3000RPM. Jay! 08-24-2001, 10:05 PM No, I meant the "You can buy it now and get it first, or you can wait until we offer more features." Primarily, I was thinking of the new CL & TL and Lexus IS not being offered with a manual when introduced. The S2000 was already so bare-bones that everything would have been an added feature. I do like the hardtop, though, but that's easy to add. F20C 08-24-2001, 10:11 PM That's all part of the smart business marketing. If you put out the best product in the first year of production. The car will outsell the supply for sure. In luxury car terms, a model life usually last 7 years. So what can you bring out that will keep up interest in the 4th year plus? BMW makes some of the best decision. This is what they did for 3 series. 1st year sedan 2nd year coupe 3rd year convertible 4th year displacement bump and awd 5th year m3 6th year minor face-lift 7th year no major change 8th year new model comes out Jay! 08-24-2001, 10:15 PM Exactly. Excellent example. :) djmotiv8 10-10-2001, 09:47 PM Mugen already made an s2200, they took the current 2.0 i-Vtec from the S2000 & bored/stroke it to 2.2 giving it more low end torque and roughly 280 hp. They also did crazy things like take out the whole wind-sheld, the passenger side, it look like that one concept miata... i wish i have the picture. Anyone seen it before? its call the Mugen SS2200... Racing Rice 10-18-2001, 09:43 AM thats would be sweet if they made it production.... But I still couldnt afford it yet anyway.. F20C 10-18-2001, 07:43 PM Originally posted by djmotiv8 Mugen already made an s2200, they took the current 2.0 i-Vtec from the S2000 & bored/stroke it to 2.2 giving it more low end torque and roughly 280 hp. Anyone seen it before? its call the Mugen SS2200... There is no i-VTEC F20C engine. What you saw was Mugen SS2200. It's a S2000 with F20C bored/stroke to 2.2L! However there was not much more torque increase. The torque figure was only 176lbs up from the 153 found on USDM Spec S2000. In S2000's concept car (SSX/SSM) stage the 2.5L V5 was stated to produce 280hp already. It was also in the Toyko Autoshow. The weight of the car was reduced to around 2000 lbs. Here is the car you are talking about. http://www.kingmotorsports.com/king/media/ss2200.jpg Dezoris 11-30-2001, 02:25 AM The only TQ I have ever seen from Honda is the NSX and the Legend Type II. Where is Hondas 6 speed on one of their 3 liters? I think they are losing their balls. We'll see, where the fuck is the new NSX? Are they going to wait until ever other company re-releases their super cars? macsir 09-21-2002, 11:22 AM According to Auto Express this car - which is called the Honda S2200 - will debut at next year's Tokyo Motor Show. It will take on the upcoming Mazda RX8 and Nissan 350Z. The S2200 is based on the S2000 roadster and it will have a powerful 188kW 2.2-litre engine. Auto Epxress reports that torque will be equally impressive and this coupe will offer 235Nm. Because of the hard-top and glass rear window the car will be slightly heavier than it's roadster sibling. But rumours have it that this coupe will be faster than the S2000. Top speed will be more than 240km/h. Its amazing power train will make sure that this muscle car will accelerate from 0-100km/h in less than six seconds. The interior will be kept simple and there will be a digital dash as well as a starter button. Bucket seats, power windows and a multitude of safety wagsaccordsir 09-21-2002, 11:28 AM Some serious flake in that, looks good though!! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
