2 sensors on thermostat housing

I've looked everywhere in my chiltons manual, and they dont list much about the cooling system.

but I need to replace one of the sensors that are on top of the thermo housng.

Theres a electrical one, I didnt break that one. but theres another one that uses vaccum. whats its name?

its driving me nuts:screwy:

It's a thermal vacuum switch, the vacuum is regulated by the coolant temp.

Since my car is no longer computer contolled, do I even need that electical sensor?

Wrong, the temperature sensor on the thermostat housing is solely for the computer system.
