Hi all, Ed here. I have a '96 LeSabre that is giving me trouble. Wife went out to open windows yesterday and windows wouldn't work. I tried and got same result. Tried to start car but will not start. Tried pow. seat and doesn't work either. Fuel pump isn't running when key is turned on. Pow. locks don't work either. Everything else seems to be ok(radio, gauges, int. lights, headlights, etc...).Today I was messing around with battery cables and got everyting to work long enough for wife to get 3 out of 4 windows down, heard fuel pump run and then it went back to the disabled state. A buddy came down with his Auto X-Ray scanner but no codes showed up. Anyone have any idea what may be my problem? Thanks for any help.

Windows just worked for a while?. Like slowed down or.. stopped
.. Loosing power hmm Had a power lean back seat switch short once. Kicked a Breaker/fuse and would reset when cool .

Codes are mostly realated to PCM sensor circuits. Performance.. not Main Power.

You will need to check voltages and hot breaker/fuses. Shorts will heat up a breaker and kick it off.

Since the power windows is a indication ..
You will need to get a schematic and a voltmeter. the breakor short is somewhere on that source along with other devices.
Some of the relays and fuses are under the hood ..it will be hot if its a short and the battery voltage source is good. .
Some are on the fuse box under the console.. Power seats etc.

It will take some bugging out.. Check battery voltages was done i expect. Sounds like your low power stuff works .. that may indicate a loose connection. The bad connection gets hot and quits.

Start by looking for hot breaker fuses.

Good luck

Right on there Maxwedge.
That old ground will do it in every time.
Sounds like you have been there before.

Problem solved. Bad ground on the pass. side under the relay center next to the glove box. Looked good but upon inspection had a film of oxidation on it. Enough to give me the troubles I had. Cleaned it up good and now everything is back to normal(or as normal as can be). Thanks to all who replied.
Regards,
Ed
