I was wondering if there is a way to disable the ford alarm sys in my windstar, we lost our only key. We bought it used and they had only one key to give us unless we pay $168 for a new key.

They said they can disable the alarm for a price. I need to know if i can do it myself if so what the auto door locks will they still work and also the non lock drivers side while running feature? any help would be nice and soon too lol van still parked at home need it to tote kids around!

If you have a 2001-2005 ebays got your key try looking up ebay ID chapstick
I got my key with transponder chip for 15.00 a local lock smith will cut your key for you Wal-mart wont.. You may have to call around.. To dis arm the alarm if you are able to unlock the door which i use a coat hanger and went between the door seal with a alittle damge to the to the rubber door seal and pushed the door lock down to unlock. If already unlocked open hood disconnect neg batt then positive side of battery for a few min. Open all doors reconnect pos side batt first then neg. That should work. Also Autozone carries the remote keyless entry for ford and GM. Cars. Hope that helps and works..

I could not find a locksmith / keyshop to cut a transponder key for me in my area. Tried 3-4 shops. They absolutely would not touch a carry-in key blank, especially being a transponder key. I wound up having the dealer cut me a copy when I had the van in for yearly state inspection. It was around $25 IIRC. You want to try to keep 3 copies, less than two and you are screwed.

Having no key adds ALOT to the cost. If you had one key, I'd recommend streetkeys.com Even now you can get your keys from them, but it's no cheaper than what you've already been quoted. Like was mentioned, have at least three. If one gets lost, you can get a blank, have it cut anywhere, and program it yourself. The trick is that two keys are needed to do it. Less than two and it's a trip to the dealer or a locksmith equipped to handle PATS keys.
