92er PA eats ignition coilskoshi 08-14-2006, 03:13 PM Hello I bought my PA a few weeks ago and on my way home from Nuernberg to Unna (about 500km) i noticed that the engine runs very rough at 2000rpm. When i try to drive up hills with about 120km/h (75mph) it starts skipping as if it isn't running on all cylinders. A few miles later my first ignitionpack (Magnavox) died. I replaced it and the engine ran perfectly smooth. For about 50km, than the old problem started again. I changed spark plugs (ACDelco (Not the platinum ones)) and the wires (Aftermarket), problem persistet. Today i changed the coilpack again - Engine runs perfectly smooth for about 50km, than the problem starts all over again. I really don't have any idea what i can do now. Loekee75 08-15-2006, 08:53 AM Did you disconnect the battery when you replaced the coil those 2 times? If so, you may be resetting the ECM and thus get good performance until the faulty component sets into the memory. This usually takes a few miles to happen, and then you'll be back to square one. Check for any set codes. Also, you said you changed the coil pack, another possibility is a bad ICM (the part underneath the coil itself, with the electrical connector) koshi 08-20-2006, 06:06 AM Ok, checked it yesterday. The battery was connect at all times and i have no codes set. Furthermore i tested my old coilpacks by checking the primary and secondary resitence. all units seem to be ok (strange, isn't it?). A damaged ICM is of course a possibility. Is there a way to test this part? Maybe it got too hot... Also, can someone supply a partnumber? Unfortunately the one printed on mine was unreadable... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
