my dreaded interior :(Derk_eliso 08-13-2006, 10:37 PM okay boys, here comes time to change my interior again :( I'm painting my doors and repainting the top plastic part by the windshield, and the panels lining your doors. On top of that I'm taking my LEDs that I have and moving them to the trunk, not permantly where they're going to be, just in there. I can't put them in place yet b/c I do not have my 12's nor do i have the enclosure for the 4 subs...so I'm just going to place them in there...ever so gently, lol. THEN, I finish what I started tonight. Replacing my door speakers, and I threw in a little surprise for everybody. I can't show you until tomorrow night when it's finished, but let's just say "I was bored, and thought of a challenge, hehe"....Hope it works, haha. and if my gauges come tomorrow I'll throw those in there and snip my DRL wire. THEN i'll take my cd player out...hopefully find out why my AUX isn't working (iPod). and HOPEFULLY get it to fit in there like they used to. phew. oh yeah, I got a free pioneer 6 1/2" speaker too... I'll tell you that tomorrow too, when I explain my idea. Goodnight :) jakegday 08-13-2006, 11:16 PM ok... I never got my doors painted...actually i didn't get anythign painted. However a friend of mine did help me wrap my headliner and rear deck. Cavalier2000 08-15-2006, 01:32 PM really sucks, the more you work on it the more that messes up Derk_eliso 08-15-2006, 07:48 PM plan on repainting everything sometime soon, just take a whole day and do nothing but paint, dash cover, dash, top dash part, bottom dash part, center console, a-pillars. Then paint the doors and the back parts. then after all that is said and done I will finish it with a glossy spray, in hopes on not chipping anything when I go to put it back in, which ranks very high with me as well as cavy2000 my99cavy 08-15-2006, 09:02 PM ^by glossy spray do you mean clear coat??? lol Derk_eliso 08-15-2006, 10:19 PM ^by glossy spray do you mean clear coat??? lol YES!!! that's SO the word I had in my head when I started writing that paragraph, lol. my99cavy 08-15-2006, 10:37 PM ^haha thought so just checking lol Derk_eliso 08-16-2006, 12:17 PM ohh..they all have to be a certain pixels..yeah i don't have time for that, lol. 6 pics comming tonight, when I have time to resize them..back off to work. Cavalier2000 08-16-2006, 12:42 PM yea when i do my touch ups, i am going to put wax down before i try and get that peice back on there, then i can see how that will work Derk_eliso 08-17-2006, 12:25 AM http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2362000-2362999/2362121_53.jpghttp://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2362000-2362999/2362121_54.jpg ...yes a speaker, yes it works, yes that is a white headliner, yes it sounds great...my dome lite is temparely homeless see..->>>^^^ http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2362000-2362999/2362121_55.jpghttp://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2362000-2362999/2362121_56.jpg new face with matching dimmer and hvac http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2362000-2362999/2362121_57.jpghttp://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2362000-2362999/2362121_58.jpg Just wanted to show off the white rear deck....and look at my tint :) angels_cavalier 08-17-2006, 10:14 AM your pics are not showing up Cavalier2000 08-17-2006, 01:02 PM you fucked it up pics aren't there Derk_eliso 08-17-2006, 02:55 PM ok new deal, go here, lol. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2362121/2 bottom of the page. angels_cavalier 08-17-2006, 04:08 PM then speakers look small and i see the headliner and back dash, but thats up with the light by your windshield? my99cavy 08-17-2006, 04:35 PM so that speaker is on the cieling where the dome light use to be?? thats.....ummm....different  Cavalier2000 08-17-2006, 04:37 PM a bit different, you you have a center output on the radio my99cavy 08-17-2006, 04:40 PM also I dont now about those L.E.D's in the car. I would have went with neons and probably red ones not blue. but thats just my opinon. and did you use to have zebra print on the inside of your car?? Cavalier2000 08-17-2006, 04:41 PM you should of done more leds and you would of been good Derk_eliso 08-17-2006, 07:20 PM yeah...here;s the plan. All the blue is headed for the truck. Once i get my custom enclosure, it will cut my trunk space in about half, and then with the white carpet in the back, like in the front, the 4 leds I have will light up nicely with my new BRIGHT amp, yeah I am like renovating everything right now, so everything is all clustered up. I need to learn to finish things that I start...anyway, yeah going with red neons in the interior, and the 4 blue leds are all in the trunk..... No there's no center channel, pulling from the left and right channels in the front channel...that way it's sort of like a center channel all in its own...your next question, no it doesn't seem to take away from any of the power of the front. next question, I put it there b/c with 4 subs pushing 1600watts of bass, i'm going to need a way to hear my highs, what better then right by my head...actually i just got bored and wanted to try somethign diff...next question, that light is there until I paint my visors and put them back in, then it is going to come through the headliner in between the visors, just the light not that harness thing. Did I miss anything? oh Zebra...yeah, my boss gave that to me, lol. I told him i would put it there until I got my windows tinted...(like 2 days later) lol. my99cavy 08-17-2006, 07:35 PM white carpet huh??? your pretty fuckin brave man lol I would be too worried of it getting so dirty. Oh and you should have gone with the zebra print all around  j/k Cavalier2000 08-18-2006, 08:48 AM i can get you the custom box lol Derk_eliso 08-18-2006, 04:59 PM yeah, just picture it in your trunk, then measure it from that, lol. Cavalier2000 08-18-2006, 05:38 PM i have the measurements of my truck lol but just tell me what you are actually looking for and i'll see what i can do Derk_eliso 08-18-2006, 05:42 PM gimme like 10 minutes, lol... Derk_eliso 08-18-2006, 05:55 PM How many pixels do the pics have to be? Cavalier2000 08-18-2006, 06:01 PM huh my99cavy 08-18-2006, 06:03 PM huhlol thats what im thinking. all he has to do is tell you what kind of box he is thinking about doing. so where pixels come into play beats the hell out of me. Cavalier2000 08-18-2006, 06:04 PM you and me both Derk_eliso 08-18-2006, 06:22 PM to display a picture...is it 100x100 like in signatures? my99cavy 08-18-2006, 06:32 PM to display a picture...is it 100x100 like in signatures?oh yeah for sigs its 100x100 Derk_eliso 08-18-2006, 10:49 PM http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a386/Derk_eliso/DSC004180.jpg did that one work this time? lol Cavalier2000 08-19-2006, 07:55 AM yea looks like another cluster fuck lol Derk_eliso 08-19-2006, 09:23 PM yeah, I realized I'm just going to have to get 2 single 10" boxes, and put them in the corners like I want, then I'm going to get like partical board or something, and like form it over top, like the shape I wanted, and then put the white carpet over it..shhh nobody will know. Cavalier2000 08-19-2006, 09:56 PM no partical board please no, are you the guy who e-mail idk? he was tellin me about someone who wanted to single boxes for a cavalier Derk_eliso 08-19-2006, 09:58 PM I dunno, I don't think so. my user name is the same for everything. So what do you suggest? What I wanna do will cover up like half my trunk...can you make a custom shaped box that big... lol it would cost like 1000000 dollars to ship. Lances133 08-19-2006, 10:03 PM Fiberglass your own, there's a good write up on how to fiberglass speakers into your door panels on jbo, of course making a specific speaker box for a trunk would be alot more complicated but it can't be that much harder, you'd be using the same materials and same techniques. Cavalier2000 08-19-2006, 10:15 PM yea fiberglass works good but shipping is not that bad (i work for a mail rooma nd get a discount) e-mail him and we can get measurments off my truck and work from there, your choice really, if you want to do just a fiberglass look then you can get a box and the glass over it, looks pretty good my99cavy 08-21-2006, 01:07 PM Fiberglass your own:iagree: if your wanting a box that wraps around your trunk like in that illustration you provided, then fiberglass would be your best bet. here is a write up on fiberglass http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=416484 it tells and shows how to make a custom amp rack in the trunk (doesnt show boxes) but gives you the idea of whats involved with it. Cavalier2000 08-21-2006, 05:09 PM it's a pain in the ass lol my99cavy 08-21-2006, 05:16 PM it is a pain in the ass but with everything else, the finished product is always worth it. Cavalier2000 08-21-2006, 05:18 PM true Derk_eliso 08-21-2006, 07:12 PM way too much work for me, lol... where's my friends when I need them??? Derk_eliso 08-21-2006, 07:19 PM relined/painted my visors, and in the process of painting my doors...they're all white right now..I have to find a way to tape it off without pulling the paint off... my99cavy 08-21-2006, 07:22 PM relined/painted my visors, and in the process of painting my doors...they're all white right now..I have to find a way to tape it off without pulling the paint off...as long as you primed before you painted and the paint is sticking to it, then you should be able to tape it with no problem. Cavalier2000 08-21-2006, 07:51 PM lol yea and get some tape that is less sticky, can't remember the name of it Lances133 08-21-2006, 08:00 PM get the blue painters tape, less sticky residue my99cavy 08-21-2006, 08:02 PM get the blue painters tape, less sticky residueI agree I use the same stuff whenever I'm doing any kind of painting. The only problem I have had is if you dont push it down good enough then the paint will run under the tape a little bit so make sure that you seal it down good or whatever you want to call it. Derk_eliso 08-21-2006, 09:14 PM yeah that sucks doesn't it, lol. The only problem I'm having..I actually think I figured it out... I'm taping the top part of the door (vinyl) and painting the bottom part (plastic) I havn't actually done it yet, I just tested a small un-noticable area to see if it would peel it off and just like latex, it comes peeling off :( this is sort of what I'm going for...from the self proclaimed king of photoshop..yeah right, lol. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a386/Derk_eliso/suckyphotoshopy.jpg see the white top with red bottom, then just accenting pieces. Colored red fabric there, and white fabric in the bottom junk collectors. Then my now window crank was photoshopped out and replaced with a white circle b/c I'm installing power windows like next week, and I'll have a cover for the hole which used to hold my window crank. aka the white circle thing...enjoy, lol. my99cavy 08-21-2006, 10:13 PM Well you sure are going to have one helluva interior once its all said and done. Classicrocjunkie 08-21-2006, 10:29 PM Little too busy for me... but to each their own. Cavalier2000 08-21-2006, 10:33 PM you need to use something besides spray paint and then it won't peel off my99cavy 08-21-2006, 10:35 PM You could always go with that dye thing  jk Classicrocjunkie 08-21-2006, 10:40 PM You could always use some fiberglass, body filler, sand paper and do it right.. or if your into this project, try using tweed fabric. Lances133 08-22-2006, 02:20 AM You could always use some fiberglass, body filler, sand paper and do it right.. or if your into this project, try using tweed fabric. Exactly what I'm doing! Except for the "tweed fabric." What is this "tweed fabric" you speak of, for those of us that don't know? lol Cavalier2000 08-22-2006, 09:28 AM here soon i am going to redo all my shit (yet again) and use automotive paint, make sure it is on there good a hard, get have to get teh paint gun and air compressor back out, my99cavy 08-22-2006, 01:03 PM Except for the "tweed fabric." What is this "tweed fabric" you speak of, for those of us that don't know? lolThis is tweed http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yourautotrim-store_1907_16281090 Lances133 08-22-2006, 01:11 PM I would never use that inside a car, the texture is FUGLY. my99cavy 08-22-2006, 02:06 PM If its used right it can look pretty good. Derk_eliso 08-22-2006, 03:17 PM i am using automotive paint on the plastic and vinyl and fabric paint on the...vinyl and fabric, lol. my99cavy 08-22-2006, 03:20 PM i am using automotive paint on the plastic and vinyl and fabric paint on the...vinyl and fabric, lol.I'm guessing your sanding and using primer before you spray the paint right??? Derk_eliso 08-22-2006, 03:43 PM yup... maybe my painters tape sucks.. or maybe I should have let it dry longer. I dunno I let it dry overnight and I'm getting ready to go try again here in like an hour... so we'll see..if it comes off, i'll just repaint it and use some plastic or something... however...mark my words, I'll get the job done, lol. my99cavy 08-22-2006, 03:47 PM haha yeah I definatley suggest letting it dry over night before messing around with it. Learned the hard way. lol Cavalier2000 08-22-2006, 04:29 PM bake it, i put a heat lamp in my "shop area" and then set the pieces under it, Derk_eliso 08-22-2006, 04:31 PM I tried it outside, in like 90+ degree temps, lol. my99cavy 08-22-2006, 04:33 PM bake it :1: thats what I did when I tinted my tails. Classicrocjunkie 08-22-2006, 05:01 PM http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/502000-502999/502971_2_full.jpg You can hide alot of imperfections behind the stuff. my99cavy 08-22-2006, 05:07 PM Tweed if used right can look very good IMO. Here is a couple more examples http://www.theinshop.com/images/108_0859.jpg http://www.theinshop.com/images/107_0775.jpg Cavalier2000 08-23-2006, 08:39 AM seen it in a few cars here and there Derk_eliso 08-23-2006, 03:02 PM show offs, lol. my99cavy 08-23-2006, 03:06 PM show offs, lol.lol those arent our cars with the tweed in them. especially the one I posted. Now do you really think that I would have heart designs on the inside of my car?? Lances133 08-23-2006, 04:20 PM Okay, the examples with flames and stuff are cool but the one Cody sent that looked like the whole interior was tweed, thats just plain ugly IMO. How would you do designs and stuff, somehow make them and then just tightly lay the tweed over them? my99cavy 08-23-2006, 04:34 PM to get the designs in the tweed you take like a stiff cushion material and then lay the tweed over. after the tweed is on then you take like a puddy knife or whatever and trace around the cushion underneath. do you follow that or is it confusing?? lol Lances133 08-23-2006, 04:36 PM Clear, crystal....clear. Hmmm, maybe i'll try something like that with my ceiling. Do the designs only work well with tweed? No right? I could use whatever? my99cavy 08-23-2006, 04:53 PM you can do it with just about anything really.. leather looks fuckin hot!!! IMO http://www.theinshop.com/images/108_0813.jpg And here is a headliner with suede... http://www.theinshop.com/images/Headliner.jpg Lances133 08-23-2006, 05:03 PM Ew, hate suede. Derk_eliso 08-23-2006, 05:08 PM yeah but I'm likin' the headliner design, even if it is suede, lol. my99cavy 08-23-2006, 05:12 PM Ew, hate suede.I really dont care for it either it was just an example. Derk_eliso 08-23-2006, 05:12 PM okay...so what happens at 100 posts? lol Derk_eliso 08-23-2006, 05:13 PM sweet, i'm an AF Enthusiast, now worship me, lol. my99cavy 08-23-2006, 05:14 PM I really like this design with the dices in it minus the leapord skin of course  http://www.theinshop.com/images/0006.jpg Lances133 08-23-2006, 05:14 PM lol you and My99 have a ways to go to catch up to KustmAce, I have no doubt that My99 will  Lances133 08-23-2006, 05:15 PM How do you set it tho? You can't obviously staple gun all around it, hot glue gun or something? my99cavy 08-23-2006, 05:18 PM How do you set it tho? You can't obviously staple gun all around it, hot glue gun or something?well if you want to do it the correct way then you use spray glue and then lay your material over it and trace around that pattern. I have no doubt that My99 will  haha very funny. Cavalier2000 08-23-2006, 05:37 PM I really like this design with the dices in it minus the leapord skin of course  http://www.theinshop.com/images/0006.jpg do you have a flame fetish, lol your posted 10 pics of interior with flames my99cavy 08-23-2006, 05:38 PM maybe I do steve....lol no I dont I just thought there cool and they are examples of tweed/leather/suede interiors. Cavalier2000 08-23-2006, 05:39 PM lol it's cool Derk_eliso 08-24-2006, 07:58 PM alright, since this forum doesn't support html, and I don't think you wanna scroll through like 10 pictures, just go to this so see my interior process so far. http://w15.photobucket.com/widgets/dynamicflash.php?featuretype=bucketshow&featurename=show_02&pa=/a386/Derk_eliso/ my99cavy 08-24-2006, 08:11 PM Your not sanding the pieces are you?? I dont like that ruff look and texture it has without sanding, but other than that it looks really good man. :1: for you bro. Derk_eliso 08-24-2006, 08:13 PM i've cleaned, sanded, and recleaned each piece...where does it look ruff :( lol. my99cavy 08-24-2006, 08:16 PM The picture of your headunit like that dash bezel around that and your one mirror thing. Derk_eliso 08-24-2006, 08:34 PM the mirror is fabric, the white is paint...I didn't sand the bezel b/c it was..bezel, lol. ohw ell.. Lances133 08-24-2006, 08:46 PM Oooo you should see mine now, primered then sanded, even the primer is already glossy! my99cavy 08-24-2006, 08:54 PM the mirror is fabric, the white is paint...I didn't sand the bezel b/c it was..bezel, lol. ohw ell..I'm not talking about that mirror, your side mirror. the inside part of it. Cavalier2000 08-24-2006, 09:17 PM looks good what kind of paint did you use and did you just tape everything off Derk_eliso 08-24-2006, 09:54 PM for the doors, I just put one strip of ptape and stuck a sheet to it. I painted it all white first...then the bottom red overlapping onto the white, and then I taped the bottom half and touched up the top white.. For everything else you see, it was taken out of the car and painted..minus the top platic/vinyl piece, it's like attached to the whole front end, so I just used plastic, and cardboard and lots of tape, to do that part, lol. Derk_eliso 08-24-2006, 09:56 PM ohh!!! the side mirrors. I thought you meant the mirrors themselves..yeah i'm an idiot. I think it's a combination from the flash and the curve..cuz it feels smooth..ish, lol. my99cavy 08-24-2006, 10:02 PM ohh!!! the side mirrors. Like where the glovebox is and next to the glovebox and under the steering wheel? Did you just paint it inside the car? Cavalier2000 08-25-2006, 01:30 PM i did my glove box thingy and took the entire thing out, paint the handle blue and the front white, the steering wheel thing comes out easliy Derk_eliso 08-25-2006, 02:49 PM I took out everything, except for the top plastic piece below the windsheild, and then the lower part around the glove box and above your knees. I just put a sheet of cardboard over the windsheld, and draped a huge piece of plastic over the seats and doors and just painted it inside. There's a few flaws but I don't feel like fixing it. Lances133 08-25-2006, 04:30 PM Well....looks like I'm gonna be practicing my contortionist skills and sanding all the lower stuff while bending and flexing myself inside the interior....nah I'll just take the seats out. Good enough for me! Cavalier2000 08-25-2006, 05:48 PM yep yep and make for damn sure that you tape EVERYTHING that you don't want tape on, and i'm not kidding, if you do want paint on it make sure it is covered. seen people cover the complete inside and then the over spray hits thier outside paint Derk_eliso 08-25-2006, 05:59 PM funniest thing happened today, I was attempting to fix my speedo, and once I put her back on I went to take my car for a test drive (disassembled) and I ran over my Dash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....!! yeah, that sucks, lol. I chipped my beautiful paint off the top of it where it slid under the gravel, and I broke the chip off inside the harness for my dimmer panel. However some good may come out of this, cuz I have an idea...I want to make a switch out of the spot where my dimmer panel was... Possibly make like a switch for my future neons and one for my N2O....hmm, anyone wanna help, lol. Derk_eliso 08-25-2006, 06:02 PM omg I could also hook up inside neons to come on when the door opens...who was just talking about that like a couple weeks ago???oh well. anyway, I wanted to ask. Does anybody else have a GIANT F**KING CRACK down the middle of your dash? cuz like mine is really anyoing me...so I decided to fix it. In about 2 hours I'll take a picture of the finished product to show you all, but for now I must go...farewell.
