92 accord, temp/AC issuelaloquera 08-13-2006, 04:59 PM What up? Just wanted to say that I'm enjoying the "mpg" on my honda. Been using the AC and it works fine, it comes out cold, but say I run in town or on the highway for about 15 to 20 min and the temp rises almost to red. Fluids are at normal in the radiator and reserve bottle. Anyone got decent clarification to my issue. Thanx laloquera:screwy: mpumas 08-15-2006, 01:32 PM Do the radiator fans come on? Is your engine temp normal with out the A/C on? I would suspect blown fuses or bad radiator fan(s). laloquera 08-16-2006, 02:49 PM The car runs at normal temp with out the AC on, I do notice the lost of water that I need to replace into the radiator once a week. My electric fan does turn on and off after I park the car. The main problem is when I turn on the AC. temp gets hot. I have taken a look at all the fuses, they look good. How do you check the AC relay?:banghead: mpumas 08-17-2006, 09:47 PM I think you have a condenser fan problem. It is the one on the left at the back of the radiator. It should come on when the air conditioner is on and the radiator temp is above 236F. The following are look places: Fuse, Fan, Fan relay. temp B temperture sensor and the cooling timer module. The first place to start is the fuse which you say you checked. It is an underhood fuse box item. The fan can be disconnected and 12 voltes applied to the fan. The positive goes to the other then black wire. Ground the black wire. The next thing to check is the relay located to the rear of the power steering reservior on the drivers side of the car. There are two relays there on the fender side wall. The one you want is the one closest to the passenger compartment. Check it for operation. If everything checks out and it still doesn't come on, tell us and we will continue the troubleshooting for you laloquera 08-18-2006, 03:38 PM I was only aware of one relay, and yes it's right where you said it would be. I’m gonna look for the other relay. According to the schematic chart on the lid, I believe it calls for one relay only, but I will double check. Can you pull those relays off and have them check? I will check my fans hooking to a 12 volt this weekend. You got the same car? :smokin: . I get back to you, hope it works. Thanx again. hondacivic99sivtec 08-18-2006, 04:54 PM you can always shoot it. ya know. continuity, voltage, ohms. mpumas 08-19-2006, 02:14 AM The other relay is in the engine compartment fuse box and that is for the radiator fan. You say it works because it comes on after you turn the car off so you don't need to do anything with it. The condenser relay can be checked with an ohm meter and 12 volts after you disconnect the plug. Apply the 12 volts to the pins where the yel/wht and blu wires connect. With the relay energized, there should be continuity between the pins where the blu/yel and white wires connect. Remember, there is a fuse for the radiator fan and a separate fuse for the condenser fan. Both of the fuses are in the underhood fuse box on the passenger side. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
