It doesn't. It uses a Low Speed GMLAN data bus 11-bit to be specific. Class 2 is old stuff ;)

I am trying to see if I can use the Terk XM radio kit that says can be directly connected to xm ready units. I keep reading that it will work on "class 2" with a band button. So I drive an 04 Malibu with a "band" button and she drives an 05 Eqinox also with a band. Any ideas if this will work?

I am ony going by what information you are providing. If the Terk XM radio kit "only" works on vehicles with class 2 serial data than the answer is NO. The 2004 Malibu (new body style) uses newer serial data standard called GMLAN which is NOT Class 2.

Not sure who "she" is but the 05 Equinox uses a Class 2 radio so it might work there.
