A friend has a 2000 Grand Am w/ the 3400 and he says it has no power, when you step on the gas it will not go above 2 grand on the tach and has no power at all.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks

lots of stuff can cause lack of performance.
The worst probly being heat soak.
How many miles?
Has he gav his GA a tune-up recently?
When you say it wont go over 2k rpms,
is that with the car moving(forward),
or is it in park/neutral when it only goes to 2k rpms?

I dunno about the tune-up, was not much of a concern since the engine will not rev above 2k, this is while driving, I am not sure about while in park or neutral.

if the plugs and wires checked out ,
then he could hav other problems causing the "lack of power".
A fuel filter, bad coils packs,
EGR not working proprly.
Evn a vacum leak at the manifold, these could be hoses on the intake or gaskets on the intake leaking air in :dunno:
