Simple question for someone who would have done this already put how high would the Jack Stands have to be to be able to remove and replace my transmission using a Jack mounted transmission lift.

Thanks for the help.

I have a good set of welded mild steel jack stands that I got at Sears, (don't use those crappy stamped out ones with the cheesy pin). They work well, basically I come close to maxing out the floor jack and put the stands under the frame rails. I would guess that I have about 18" of air under the frame rails.

What kind of trans? A TH-350 or 400 is going to take more space than an M-22 or T-10.

Thanks for your help.

If you can get the frame 24" off the floor you should be able to lower and remove the trans easily. You may have to transfer the transmission from whatever jack is used to lower it onto a creeper or sheet of plywood to slide it out from the vehicle, depending upon the minimum height of the trans jack.
