Every time I turn on the 97' Rodeo 3.2, w/ 112k miles, Im hearing the most ear-piercing loud screeching sound which goes away after i rev the engine for a minute or so, and then, VOILA, it goes away.

Sounds HORRIBLE! Could it be Fan Clutch? I have no overheating issues whatsoever at low speeds or otherwise.

Thank You Very Much!!!

I'd bet money its a slipping alternator belt.

Geeezzzz now RF has a fan club? :screwy:

Squealing is almost always a belt. Either alternator, power steering, or serpentine depending on the setup.
Replace the belts and you should be good to go.

Thank You Ramblin Fever!!!Look at the Voltmeter on the instrument panel, if it jumps up to ~14V when the squealing stops you need to tighten your alternator belt.:2cents:

Thank you, Thank you!! :bananasmi :bananasmi ....kidding

Agree it's probably alternator belt, and it's probably worn out if it's been on there a while and just now slipping/squeaking.

YUP!!!

Definitely a belt; Definitely alternator at the least; Even after the Alternator belts "catches" and stops squeeking, when i turn on the Air COnditioner, when the A/C clutch grabs on, i hear a split-second screech again?

SO, more than just the alt. belt?

BTW: My Alt. Tensioner Screw (the one that goes into the bracket, and through the little square block) is broken; Do i need it?

Thanks.

BTW: My Alt. Tensioner Screw (the one that goes into the bracket, and through the little square block) is broken; Do i need it?Do you need it? Maybe not. I wasn't able to get the belt tight enough without it though.

Is any of it protruding out of the adjustment block? If so you can heat it up and remove the broken part. The replacement is a 6M 40mm (or 50mm) METRIC bolt that can be found at Home Depot for about $0.50.
