My last fill-up, $47 @ $3.10/gallon

Paying roughly $150-$175/month in this truck

Filling up the the TB usually takes about 18gal. About $56 a pop. We avg about 325mi/tank. The van runs me just over $60 for about 450mi fillup. A typical month we spend $280-320 in gasoline.:frown: Another couple months and our SUV's will be resale-less.:banghead:

I failed to mention that the $47 was for only 15 gallons, afraid to let it run completely empty $$....er $60-62

The diesel is on temporary standby, with diesel averaging $3.20/gallon now - it's sitting for now. Although it does get better gas mileage then the Rodeo or the X.

The X runs me about $45-50/tank, it runs fine on 85 octane. But it's not completely broke in, thus doesn't get as good as mileage as it should in 7-10k miles from now. Only has 1k on it right now.

The Toy p/up gets 30-35 miles per gallon with about $25-30/tank - obviously it's getting its wheels drove off; we're using it for everything currently.

$3.12/gallon here. I put in $50 a few days ago to drive to Washington DC. I don't let it go below a .25 of a tank just because I don't want to have to pay for a fill up. I've been having thoughts of a more economical car again. Maybe in a year or so.

$3.05 per gallon here in SW FL. Not driving the Jeep much (16-18 mpg), but the Jetta is getting driven about 100 miles a day (28-30 mpg). Forty cents a mile allowance for work doesn't seem so generous anymore.

Filled up today with Regular (87) $3.25/gal @ 14.644 gal = $47.72. Got to love NY prices. I have to try to get the gas mileage up on mine. I just put in a bottle of Fuel injector cleaner, and I have the K&N drop in, besides that nothing else. Really bad gas mileage on the car though. My other car which is a 2006 MX-5, I get 30mpg.

3.56 a gallon out here in Hawaii.

$3.569 * 21.9 Gallons= Whopping $78.1611 (Theoretical FULL FILL UP)

I wish I could get rid of the small problems I have remaining;

1) Oil Pressure Guage stops working randomly; indicates crazy high readings.
2) Screaching sound emanating from what seems like Fan Clutch/pulley area at startup.

After that, I love the truck!

Thanks.

3.20 a gallon. 45 bucks to fill up (14 gallons) Amigo: Ave 18.5 mpg.
The Mazda 3s is getting about ave 32MPG
and the 1958 Beetle is getting about 30 MPG.

I've been lucky with Amigo since I only fill it up about once every 3wks (7 miles round trip to work, and I occasionally drive the Beetle or pair up with the wife for longer trips).

Wanna trade it for a '68 Chevelle with a 402??? :smokin:

I filled up the Rodeo yesterday at $2.92 at one station that plays pricing war games. Most places are just over 3 bucks this week. Anyway, it was $46 to fill up - and I only went 234 miles on that tank. It was all around town driving and a trailer haul too. But still, as good as it runs it really made me wonder if I need to have it around anymore. Just might have to consolidate vehicles and find one that gets decent mileage for commuting, looks good, and can pull a medium sized trailer. I hate to say it but we may be paying $3.75-4.00 this time next year. If an 18-wheeler fuel tanker truck misses a turn and rolls over in Kansas or someplace, suddenly CNN is reporting 'yet another supply disruption' practically causing a wall street reaction and then oil futures to skyrocket. Man, have we dug a hole for ourselves or what?

In Silverdale, wa the prices are all about the same know matter what stations you go to. I just put in 18 gal @ 2.94 and it came to 50 bucks and some loose change. Not that bad but not that good either.:shakehead

I was reading about a guy on another forum who had a 34 gallon tank and a credit card that would only pre-authorize $75 per swipe, says he could barely make it past 23 gallons before the pump would shut off - he's unable to even completely fill his truck for under $75.

I figured his gas price to be somewhere in the $3.19 - 3.20/gallon range - OUCH!

Ours is still holding at $3.05 for mid-grade (87), about $64/21 gallon tank.

My diesel is in hibernation at $3.25/gallon = :shakehead You know when I bought that thing, diesel was cheaper then regular gas - thus the reason we homed in on it; that and it's pulling power. It does get good mpg considering it's a 3/4 ton 4x4 Quad-cab, but just like the latter owner, I can't afford to fill it up.

We did sale the Xterra to my sister - not something I wanted to part with, but all 3 other vehicles are paid for, so their non-monthly payments are paying for their gas, whereas the Xterra was gonna kill us between it's payments and it's gas.

i got friends with f-250-350's with the triton v-10. over 100 dollars to fill. i think they have a 35 or 40 gallon tank. they also have spoke of the credit card limit? i don't think it is a limit from the credit card co but a limit from the individual gas station. they want to keep the limit at 75$ because that hold is on your account for up to two days. if it was a debit card transaction you could be bouncing checks if you only put in 10$of gas. seems stupid to me but i guess there is reasoning?
ramblin what type of truck do you have? if it is a dodge with a cummins, i have been thinking about getting one due to the reliability of the cummins diesel. if so do you have the 12 or 24 valve cummins? i was going to get the manual trans when i due decide to part with my paycheck?just curious? thanks mike

Correct. Its a pre authorization for the credit card to make sure you can pay for it. The amount varies by station but $75 is pretty normal. If its a debit card and you dont have that much in your account it will only authorize up to what you have in your account. Some stations go up to a few hundred $. If you want a really high limit go to a truck stop. With the size of their tanks they have to have high limits.

They were talking about this subject on a talk radio station here a few weeks ago.

We have the 2001 24 Valve Cummins HO automatic quad-cab. Kind of wished I had gotten the manual trans, but I have no complaints thus far with the auto - course we have no desire to put extra boost, etc into it. I think that's where many of the auto problems come from on these trucks, is when they put chips and the like into them.

The truck is around the 90k +/- ball park, we did buy it used with roughly 60k or so and the 30k we've put on, I'd say 94% of that has been towing the boat and carrying the camper. We have had the transmission fluid changed twice already, and have installed a couple additional gauges, one of them being the temp gauge for the tranny.

We have had 0 issues with the engine, and all we've done is put in a new air filter, fuel filter, change the oil, and keep tabs on the fuel pump pressure.

We did have the oil drain pan seal replaced at around 80k or so, under extended warranty, and for a few weeks we thought the pinion seal where the drive-shaft enters the transmission was leaking, but it actually turned out to be a loose transmission pan bolt. Simple fix.

i think the auto's are solid units, but like any auto you have to do alot of maintenance (example 4l30e rodeo). if you don't due the maintenance i think any auto is in for trouble. sounds like you are treating yours right! hope you are using atf+4! i am also going to buy used, and it is sometimes hard to tell how an auto trans has been treated, plus the fact i like shifting my self. thanks for the reply. mike
