i have a 99 beetle 4 cyl. when i bought it used the keyless entry didnt work. i always use the actual key to lock and unlock. well i cant get in because the alarm will not unarm!!!! i can get into the car, but if i tried to start it the alarm will go off. once this happened and wd40 opened it right up. please help the blonde in ar!:confused:

You need a new driver door latch assembly. It contains the microswitch for the alarm system that lets you arm/ disarm the alarm. If the switch isnt working you cant disarm the alarm. A new latch assembly is about 160.00 and you will need the 3.00 plastic bracket that attaches itto the door frame

My friend had this same problem with her 99 Beetle. We found a freaky post online that said to use the key to open the trunk, then close the trunk and you'll be good to go. Hard to believe, but it worked. We've had to use that trick a few times.

If this is the first problem you've had with your 99 Beetle, consider yourself very lucky. They are notirious for having goofy (and expensive!) problems.
