I raced tonight...just not in my car

And I went down the track the quickest I've ever been.

4.069 at my local track (the 330 ft. one). I drove my uncle's car tonight. Its a Vega too, but it was professionally built and is just flat out awesome.

That 4.06 would be low 6s in the 1/8th (he ran a 6.12 @ 113 mph las ttime he was at an 1/8th mile track). And that would most def. be sub 10 seconds in the 1/4 (probably 9.70s).

Anyways, tonight was the first time I've been in a race car in over a Month. And it was the first time I'd ever drove his car. And it is TOTALLY different then driving mine. For starters, it has an aftermarket A-arm front suspension with rack and pinion steering and disc brakes. So the steering is WAY WAY more touchy then my car, lol. Its better though, once you get used to it but man that first pass tonight was a little bit on the wild side, lol.

Here's my passes from tonight.

1st time run
RT: .509
60': 1.495
330: 4.250
spun badly, plus i got a little wiggly-fied on top end and had to shut it down, lol.

2nd time run
RT: .522
60': 1.445
330: 4.163
spun a little, let up slightly to get back straight

3rd time run
RT: .481 (foul)
60': 1.425
330: 4.090
first pass that it hooked, also was first pass I held it flat out

1st round
Dial: 4.07
RT: .504
60': 1.413
330: 4.069 (breakout, and by .001 seconds!)
i lifted big time before the finish line and still broke out, bought back in

2nd round
Dial: 4.05
RT: .517
60': 1.437
330: 4.084
just got beat. I had a better light but the other guy ran closer to his dial. I had to change lanes for that pass as well (went from the left to the right) and so we didnt' really know what to dial the car. Right lane is always a little slower but the humidity was going down and so we figured it'd run close to the 4.05 dial considering it ran a 4.069 with me getting out of it (plus we got bit in the 1st round by tryign to dial it too close). Even still, the margin of victory was only .010, so it was a very good race.

So anyways, it felt really good to get back in a race car, especially one as nice as my uncles. Driving it feels like gettin shot out of a cannon, lol. And its on a rail too going down the track. It was also nice to know I can still drive and do my thing on the tree, lol.

I juse hope that my car turns out similar to his once I get it done.

I think its fun. Its not just who has the fastest car, its who can drive their car the best. And thats the combination of getting good reaction times and knowing how your car performs in certain conditions and the main number one thing, driving consistant.

In bracket racing, you have to race both ends of the track. You can't just concentrate on getting a good light and then just running your car flat out.

Lol. I hope mine turns out like it.

I may get to drive it this Saturday down an 1/8th mile. If I do then I can say on Sunday that I've been 113 mph in 660 feet, lol.

I hope I get to drive it this weekend. I'm either driving it or one of our friends cars. It runs a little slower then what mine did though. It'll go 6.70s I think.

All of this is just making me want to get mine fixed that much faster, lol. Which means I'll be further in debt! Oh well!
