I have a 92 Ranger Ext. Cab 4.0L Automatic. I am having several problems. First problem is the horn will not work (you can hear the clicking coming from the steering wheel though when pushing it). It used to work every once in a while, but not all the time, however now the horn will not work at all. Second problem is my cruise control will not work. I've checked all fuses in the fuse box & they're good. Any suggestions of what might be the problem for the horn or cruise? Third problem is when I'm not running my A/C my truck will heat up to about half way, however if I'm running my A/C, the tempature of the truck very quickly heats up & will run right on the hot side, right before it over heats, but does not over heat, is this normal for these Rangers, or is there something wrong with my cooling system? Also every once in a while but not all the time, when running my A/C I can smell gasoline in the cab, will start out slight & than progress to a strong smell. Like I said it will only do this sometimes, not all the times, any idea what may be the problem? Someone please help with these problems! I am having nothing but problems out of the truck & am very tempted to trade it in, however after buying the truck for $1200 around 10 months ago & already putting about $3500 in repairs, I don't want to get rid of it do to not being able to get anywhere close to what I have in it out of it, however I can't continue affording shop prices either, so I'm desperate for some help from some members who may be able to help me solve these problems. Even if you can only help one one of the problems listed, thats better than nothing.

For the horn from my experiences with my aftermarket dixie horn from wolo anytime i had a clicking sound it meant that one of two things was the problem. one the power wire got loose and it would just click or two and this is probally your problem the ground wire has come loose either from the horn or from metal.

Cruise control you might want to check into the vacuum lines running to it and the cable.

For the rest i am not entirely sure.

Thanks for your reply. I'll have to check the horn & cruise control out as soon as I get the chance & well post whether I had any luck or not.

I have yet to figure out the smell of gasoline at times when running the A/C & yet to figure out weather the truck heating up to the max. side of normal operating temperature when sitting still with the A/C on (even if its 80 degrees & at night) is normal. I also haven't managed to fix the cruise control fixed yet, so if anyone has any more ideas about what may be wrong, I'd greatly apprecriate it. I did however manage to get the horn working again. Turned out the power wire in the fuse box was dirty at the connection & one of the 2 horns under the hood actually had no wire going to it. So I took care of it & now I have a nice & loud horn.
