Its an Airfix/Heller kit minus the paints etc, you can expect their usual level of detail but i actually quite like this kit. I have been impressed with them recently, first for releasing the Xsara rally car now these, which will look great made as a street version along side a model car.

So thats what i'm planning to do with this, i know nothing about bikes and i'm not sure if a road version of this exists? But im doing it anyway and the plan is to paint it in a nice yellow and have it parked beside my S2000.

The kit lacks alot of detail but with a little Fly magic i will re-work a few parts to improve the appearance, it even comes complete with rider and flag....ooooohhh! The main cowling is nicely molded though, strangely done as a clear part. This is not so you can display the model as a full view Tamiya style option, but a way for Airfix to cut corners with the windscreen!!! Not so much of a problem with careful masking.

But i recommend it just for the sake of being able to display it with the cars.

Wow, that's some flashy packaging for a model kit. Makes me think I'm buying some fancy piece of electronics or something :p

That's cool. I was gonna pick up a couple 1/24 bikes the other day, but then I thought that they're gonna be built to go in the beds of my AMT 1/25 pick-up trucks, so they'd be disproportionatly large.

:flipa: AMT!!!

The sun was out today so the bike got a few coats of Fiat Golden Yellow which i've had unused for a couple of years. Because the spray can had been left so long it spat out tiny bits of dried paint which would not disappear no matter how long and hard i shook the bugger! A few specs landed on the bike but i'm not worried about these as they can be sanded away before polishing.

This is now off to sit in the airing cupboard for a few days while i get to work on the rest - first task is to improve those awful exhausts.

Hey Gainsbourg, now i know why u use that name from your avatar. He does cool stuff man, I really like a tune of his called 'En Melodie'...

Reworked the exhaust silencer's with styrene and aluminium tubing to make them look alot more presentable and a little more realistic than kit one's.

Not easy to find someone o knows Serges Gainsbourg's work.
Mick Harvey from Nick Cave's Bad Seeds also have a great album of Gainsbourg's versions.

Nice work with the exhausts. Look much closer to the real ones.

as i saw ...heller kit is always a challenge..even with motorcycle..
but it s a nice way to level up work and learn scratchbuilding.

Gainsbourg, you'd better say : it s hard to find a none-french guy knowing Serges Gainsbourg's work. ;-)

Again, good work, Chris. It looks so tiny compared to Dan's recent "big bikes." ;)

AH! Bigger is better! :o :p

I'm jealous that he gets a 1/24 bike - the closest I'll get are the various scooters packaged in with early Tamiya kits. Vespa, here I come! :bloated: :silly2:

Not much, trying not to distract myself away from the more important projects.

Just filled in the cavernous sink holes and tidied up a few parts ready for priming.
