Hi, I've got a problem with a 2003 sunfire with the center vents.
The fact is, they don't blow...
You can turn the directional knob fine, and it will switch in between all of them.
However, no matter what setting you turn it on, air comes out of every single vent, but depending on which setting you have it on, thats where the most air will come out. (ie: you have it on recycle air, most air comes out from the two drivers side vents, but a small amount from defrost and floor, if you have it on defrost, most comes out from the center defrost vent, but a small amount still comes out from the side vents and the floor)

We took it in for warranty service to have it fixed. This is back when it was difficult to turn the knob, and it ended up breaking a week later. We did take it to this shady GM dealership however, so thats probably why. However, now its out of warranty and we really need these center vents working.

I was wondering, does anyone else have this problem, or a solution, or even a tsb #/title I could pick up from a dealership? Otherwise, I'm just going to end up ripping out the entire vent system and try and find out whats blocking the air flow.

Thanks.

the air that travels to your vents flows through surprisingly thin plastic hoses in the dash. if you or a previous owner has ever done any in-dash mod's like a radio or something, maybe one was cut, allowing air to flow throughout your dash. my suggestion is to remove the dash and investigate.

the vents are open, right?

Yeah, they are open... I don't think there is a way to close them, unless you turn them so that they are not blowing towards you.

The 2003 model has those 360 degree turnable round vent directionals, or whatever you want to call them. So unless theres some hidden switch somewhere, i'm pretty sure they are open.
