Removing fabric on door panel? Also, the bezel around the handle?Lances133 08-03-2006, 03:03 PM I'm sanding down the door panels and preping for paint, but can I remove the fabic that's also the armrest? Also can I remove the bezel that surrounds the door handle? If so, am I able to easily put it back on without difficulty? I'm looking behind the door panel and it looks like I'm gonna have to break clip/pin things to get it off. my99cavy 08-03-2006, 03:09 PM I was wondering how you got that piece off with the fabric on it also. couldnt figure it out. so if anyone knows please say so my99cavy 08-03-2006, 04:34 PM I was thinking, what are you going to do with the fabric part of the door?? I was thinking about replacing the stock fabric with suede or removing the fabric all together and painting where it was. Cavalier2000 08-03-2006, 04:38 PM i think you can cut the entire piece out and then get it redone and then screw it back on. same with the piece around the handle KustmAce 08-03-2006, 08:02 PM You have to cut the little plastic welds around all the pieces, then carefully pull it out because it has a little lip wedged into the door. The fabric itself you have to just yank off. The hard part is getting all the yellow foamy junk off. my99cavy 08-03-2006, 08:07 PM You have to cut the little plastic welds around all the pieces, then carefully pull it out because it has a little lip wedged into the door. KustmAce 08-03-2006, 08:12 PM so when you cut off the plastic welds, what do you do to put it back on?? that yellow foam stuff is a pain in the ass to get it all off. I used some Bulldog glue and some small screws my99cavy 08-03-2006, 08:15 PM I used some Bulldog glue and some small screwsoh ok so then once you put it back on you wont be able to see the glue or the screws right??? KustmAce 08-03-2006, 08:15 PM oh ok so then once you put it back on you wont be able to see the glue or the screws right??? Nope. Just make sure if you use screws you get small ones, or just be careful so you dont accidentally go all the way through. my99cavy 08-03-2006, 08:17 PM Nope. Just make sure if you use screws you get small ones, or just be careful so you dont accidentally go all the way through.damn that was quick lol but ok thanks for the info tim. when I first tore it apart I kinda figured you needed to cut it in order to take that part off but wasnt sure. so thanks again for the info. hopefully lance reads all this too lol considering he started this thread. Lances133 08-03-2006, 08:27 PM i'm just worried about not being able to get it all back on good enough so it doesnt look like crap my99cavy 08-03-2006, 08:29 PM i'm just worried about not being able to get it all back on good enough so it doesnt look like crapyeah I know what you mean. thats why you have to take your time and be careful.:) KustmAce 08-03-2006, 08:49 PM no prob dude Lances133 08-03-2006, 10:05 PM Okay, here are pics if anyone was curious on this... The backside of the door panel... http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a175/PropsRI/000_0522.jpg To remove the power locks, you just push in the 2 metal prongs from the inside of the door panel... http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a175/PropsRI/000_0520.jpg Like Tim said...to remove the fabric and handle bezel you have cut or do what I did and just grab a pocket knife and just stab, pry, cut, and just try to annhilate the little plastic welds, (the circle things at the bottom), until the bezel is free.... http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a175/PropsRI/000_0523.jpg Then after the bezel is off, you should just be able to remove the fabric piece, it's stuck to the panel with some sort of glue so dont be afraid to give it some oomf. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a175/PropsRI/000_0525.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a175/PropsRI/000_0526.jpg Final product... http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a175/PropsRI/000_0517.jpg jerseycavyz24 08-04-2006, 10:57 AM Yea good luck trying to wrap the carpet insert its a bitch vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
