Was working on my fathers 1990 Ram 150 today and can't figure out this problem.
The truck is hard to start, when it's started, the only way it will run is if the gas pedal is pushed to a high idle.It will stop as soon as the gas pedal is released and the moter returned to normal.Fuel pressure seems good and I cleaned the contacts in the distrubuter.
Anyone have a idea what could be the problem??Thanks

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Check you vacuum hoses.

Come back here if still having problems

the problem that i have is, that the engine which is a 3.9 v6, when is running is rough and when i stop at the light, it will die out, of course i can immidiately crank it up and it will run but rough again, in other words, if i let go the gas in drive, it will stall out. it runs on neutral but like i said very rough. hope someone can help me. thanks

I'm having the exact same problem with my '88 Dodge D100 with 3.9L. Did you ever find a fix? I've replaced fuel pump, O2 sensor, etc etc, and am at my wits end!

Check your egr valve as well.
