Attemping to replace the rear brake pads on my buddies 01 mustang. Its a regular, v6. We got everything apart but when we went to put the caliper back on couldn't get the lower caliper bolt on because the parking brake line was in the way. So we pulled out the bolt holding on the spring for the parking break and eventually got the parking brake line disconnected. Now though, we can't figure out how to get the spring back on for the parking brake assembly. So 3 questions.

1. How do we get this spring back on?

2. Is it nessecary to disconnect the parking brake linkage to do the rear pads, if not how do you do it.

3. If the parking brake linkage should be removed, does anyone know the proper procedure?

Thanks

The best way to remove/reinstall that bottom bolt of the caliper mounting bracket is to remove the caliper first. That way the cable (which is attached to the caliper) will not be in the way. :) Took me a minutes to figure the first time too.
99-04 have the same brake hardware on both the V6 ang GT.
