I am int he market for a 97 Sunfire, with 84,000 klm. Just wondering what major problems people have had and around what mileage did they occur.
Body looks good, Are the parts ready to go, cheap to replace. Is there anything hard to get to in the engine bay for repairs? What is your personal opion on this car?

Is it a GT or regular sunfire. The 95-97 sunfires had the old style 2.2 OHV ln2 engine and had problems with the head gaskets. Also changing the coil pacs and spark plug wires are quite a pain in the butt since they are on the back side of the engine. If equipted with the 2.4L LD9, only issue was the water pumps. You have yourself a full day repair with that one since its run off the timing chain if you have to replace it. But one way or another, both engines have their ups and downs.

quick question classic, is the water pump the only thing that runs off of the timing chain, in that particular engine??
