XTrail towing capacity differences

I live in Calgary and have recently purchased an X-Trail LE. I am considering getting a trailer for camping, but find that I am limited to a maximum of 907kg (2000lb) which seems very low. Looking on the web I notice that there seems to be quite a difference in rated towing capacity for the X-Trail in different countries for wht seems to be fundamentaly the same car. Australian X-Trails can tow up to 2000 kg, and I have seen other spec sheets where it is rated up to 2250kg for example. Does anyone know the reason for discrepancies like this?

Sounds familiar...I just bought one from Fish Creek Nissan...now I'm waiting for it to arrive in Calgary. There's a thread at http://www.nissanforums.com/x-trail/120827-towing-xtrail.html which may answer you question, or leave you more confused. I don't think I'd want to pull 2000kg with mine and if it did, it probably wouldn't do well pulling through BC. I think my GMC Jimmy with its 4.3L v6 and truck chassis is only rated for 2000kg tugging. I'll pulling a pop-up that's 1100lbs dry, I'm hoping its going to be ok for BC.

What did you pay for your LE? I was hit for a total of $28,050 plus GST for my SE (Sunroof Edition apparently:grinyes:).
