I bought a 97' Lesabre from a private party, the car is in great condition but the keyless entry remote trunk button doesn't open the trunk, the lady i bought i from said that she was told by the used car dealer she bought it from that previous owner must have disconnected it:banghead: .I would really like to re-connect it so i can use the remote to pop the trunk....anybody know how to re-connect it. thanks

Does the trunk release work (the one inside the car)?

If not, its likely a blown/missing fuse. The fuse is #2 (15amp) on the IP power distribution block (RH).

Is it just the keyless part or the "inside the vehicle" button not work also?
On my 99 there is a disable/ enable switch for the trunk inside the glovebox.
Make sure it is enabled.

The inside button works just fine, i tried the trunk release button in the glove box but it still doesn't work with the keyless remote....like i said before, the previous owner was told that it was "disabled" for whatever reason, i would like to be able to open the trunk with the remote especially when coming out with a big load of groceries...lol...i just have no idea where and how it was disabled:rolleyes: any ideas someone:icon16:

As far as I know, there is no "programming" way to disable just the keyless for the trunk. I have opened up the fob and put a piece of tape across the alarm button, to keep me from accidentally setting off the alarm. Perhaps that was done for the trunk button.

this might sound stupid to you but what is the FOB:uhoh: i know there is nothing wrong with the remote cause the lady i bought the car from about 3 month ago had just bought a brand new remote for it before she handed over the car to me...hmmmm, just don't know whatelse it could be:confused:

the FOB is the remote, (or in general This includes items hanging off a keychain). Sounds like if it is new, and the trunk part doesnt work, the old owner must have disabled it in the car somewhere, like cut a wire or something coming out of the keyless receiver. I wouldnt know where that is.

The wireless control module is behind the glove box, so fold down the rubber stops to allow the glove box to swing down completely. The control module is clipped to the backside of a plastic mounting plate (the plate is usually white).

The trunk release signal wire is a light blue wire at the corner of the connector.
