painting plastic simple question guys/chicks

sup im new to this place it seems to be the best one ive seen yet i must say.

ok i bought a ride to trick out a 99 honda civic.
after i bought i noticed all these little things that looked well like shit.
black trim black side mirros black antena casing. blah buncha off collor crap. on a silver car . im trying to keep this part cheap so im painting my self i know how to paint but when it comes to plastics my paint jobs allways chip off easy.


is primer a bad idea for plastics?????????
if its usable please let me know what to do to keep it chip free !!

ok, Be sure to wipe id down 3 times with rubbing alcohol, and if you go down to any local auto paint shop, they should have some sort of plastic paint ashesion promoter, spray that on as the directions say, well, at least spray a light coat, then spray to cover entire object. don't worry about primer unless your using Krylon (shudder) or something like that crap. otherwise just a simple coat of sealer then your b/c should do the trick. Also, if you are happening to do it b/c, if you lay down to much clear that can also cause it to chip easier, the same rules apply also for a rattle can job too. good luck, ask more if needed

rattle can job as in spray paint?

do they make decent car paint in a can?

yes, rattle can, bomb can, spray can, whatever..and in my opinion, rattle can sucks. But, for a cheap price it can get you by, and If your really lucky you can even get it to match your car exactly. Otherwise, you can go back down to your paint shop, and they can mix up an airisol can of your factory color. Simple as that. though you'll need some sort of clear too.
